Gunner Skelton (Columbia Academy) The top-20 player in the 2026 class offers true two-way potential at the next level as it is hard to predict entirely what position he will ultimately end up at the next level. The middle infielder and RHP combo worked efficiently in his start against a pesky lineup. He was a major standout at our Prep Baseball Tennessee’s Preseason All-State in early February where he showed the arm strength sitting 85-87 mph, while letting it fly up to 88 mph across the infield defensively. He was amped up in the first inning where he sat 87, while touching 89 once before settling in at 83-86 mph with late arm-side run. He consistently got ahead on hitters with both his fastball and breaking-balls working to both sides of the plate. The curveball was late with firm spin that repeatedly got bad swing and misses and was mostly what he went to early, which registered in the low 70’s, while the slider was tighter and what he would go to with 2 strikes against righties in the mid 70’s to put them away. He would go 6 innings total, giving up only 1 hit with 8 K's to 2 walks. He also doubles as Columbia Academy’s 3-hole and has had a hot start to the season with 2 HR’s. The upside is high with Skelton at 5 foot 10 and 185 pounds with a base floor of present strength in the frame that should continue to fill out.

Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 187-pounds. Stocky frame with present strength that will contiue to come into his own.
Delivery: Twitchy wideup with lots of movement, moves with intent down the mound while remaining in control. Has shown jump in velocity from projectable frame.
Arm Action: RH. Athletic move behind the body generates strong arm action with good elbow spiral up.
FB: T87, 86-87 mph. Fastball has shown a big jump in the past year, Is explosive out of the hand with 19 inches of ride, good ASR with late action. T2304, 2258 average rpm.
SL: 74-80 mph. Feel for slider with great shape down, more movement down when hand stays on ball a tad longer. T2364, 2253 average rpm.
CH: 79-80 mph. Throws CH well that has good depth to it low. Will get rollovers to righties and swings and misses to LHH. T2069, 1979 average rpm.
ATH: 7.38 runner in the 60. 1.74 and 5.17 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 31.50 max vertical.

Hands resist stride well getting a good rubber band effect as swing comes through. Above average batspeed (77.6) lets him catch just about any ball out front. Pounding balls to the pullside with authority. 77.6 mph bat speed with 11 G's of rotational acceleration.

Gunner Skelton, Columbia Academy (TN), 2026
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-11, 180-pounds. Athletic look, well developed frame with room to continue to fill out.
Delivery: Up tempo, struggled with command at times. Effective when working down in the zone. feel for breaking ball on both sides of the plate
Arm Action: RH. Shorter and quick arm action, 3/4 arm slot from the ear. Hides ball well.
FB: T83, 79-82 mph. Arm side action, works to the inner half. T2190, 2045 average rpm.
SL: 70-74 mph. Generates several swing and misses when located down. Sweeping action, both sides of the dish T2128, 1963 average rpm.
CH: 71-74 mph. CH has some present drop. Slows down his tempo and arm speed to create the pitch. Just is a pitch that is young in its development. Different shape than his fastball, but without the addtional horizontal movement. Must work to stay inside that pitch long and kill spin with fastball arm speed and intent. T1827, 1716 average rpm.
CUT: 74-76 mph.
SPLT: Currently more of a firmer slider with rifle spin shape. Think it would be worth increasing his slider spin and velocity to maximizes his effectiveness on the mound.
ATH: 7.66 runner in the 60. 1.88 and 4.25 10 and 30 yard splits.
