Mississippi Preseason All-State: Quick Hits, Infielders

STARKVILLE, MS — The Mississippi Preseason All-State was held on Sunday, February 1st at the Palmeiro Center on the campus of Mississippi State that featured top talent from the 2026-2029 classes. Players went through a pro-style workout with TrackMan and VALD Performance tech, while pitchers threw in a bullpen setting and were able to get data and metrics on our TrackMan unit.

Some prospects built on past showings, while others made strong first impressions.

QUICK HITS: INFIELDERS

Drew Davis SS / RHP / Sumrall, MS / 2027

Drew Davis, a 2027 Sumrall High School standout and Alabama commit, is an elite two-way talent with a strong 6’0”, 190-pound frame. A former Future Gamer, Davis moves effortlessly across the infield with a plus arm reaching 94 mph, while at the plate he combines a compact, high-efficiency swing with the ability to drive the ball to all fields, generating exit velocities up to 101 mph. His athleticism, versatility, and two-way impact make him a cornerstone for Sumrall as they aim to return to Trustmark Park and compete for another state title.

Jaxon Herod SS / 3B / West Union Attendance Center, MS / 2028

Jaxon Herod, a 2028 standout from West Union High School, is a 6’1”, 180-pound athletic prospect with elite tools and high upside. A former Junior Future Games and Super Sophomore participant, he pairs a line-drive approach at the plate with the ability to drive the ball to all fields, already posting exit velocities up to 93 mph and continuing to get stronger. Defensively, Herod boasts a strong, 93-mph arm across the diamond and fluid movement in the field. He also runs a 6.78 60-yard dash, giving him the speed to become a potential base-stealing threat. With his combination of athleticism, power, and two-way impact, he’s poised for a big season and looks ready to make a major impact on every pitch.

Reese Parker SS / 3B / West Harrison, MS / 2029

Reese Parker, a 5’10”, 165-pound 2029 standout from West Harrison High School, is the #1 ranked player in his class in Mississippi and a two-way prospect with huge upside. He combines a pull-side approach at the plate with the ability to drive the ball the other way, posting exit velocities up to 97 mph. Defensively, Parker has a solid foundation with a strong 89-mph arm and runs a quick 6.93 60-yard dash, giving him impact on the bases as well. With his athleticism, skill, and versatility, Reese is one of the most exciting young talents to watch over the next few years.

Parker Hicks 3B / RHP / New Albany, MS / 2027

Parker Hicks, a 2027 standout from New Albany High School, is a 5’11”, 205-pound prospect with a strong, athletic frame and an advanced tool set. He has elite power in his bat, posting an event-high exit velocity of 108.2 mph, with a pull-side approach and occasional loft, projecting as a middle-of-the-order hitter at the next level. Defensively, Hicks is a solid third baseman with arm strength up to 87 mph across the diamond. With his combination of power, defensive ability, and overall skill, he remains one of the top uncommitted prospects in his class.

Christian Mumford SS / RHP / Germantown, MS / 2029

Christian Mumford, a 2029 standout from Germantown High School, is a 5’10”, 160-pound prospect with a lean, wiry frame and athleticism. An exciting young talent in his class, he combines a polished skill set with speed, running a 6.71 60-yard dash. Defensively, Mumford has an advanced glove across the infield and a strong arm up to 86 mph. At the plate, he uses a gap-to-gap approach with pop already showing as he produces exit velocities up to 99.3 mph. With his combination of speed, defense, and offensive upside, Christian is poised to be a force to be reckoned with for opposing teams for the next few years.

Grady Bledsoe SS / OF / North Pontotoc, MS / 2029

Grady Bledsoe, a 2029 standout from North Pontotoc High School, is a 5’10”, 168-pound prospect with a lean, lanky build and plenty of room to add strength. He had an impressive showing at the Junior Future Games last summer, demonstrating a synced-up swing with a middle-of-the-field to pull-side approach and occasional loft, generating exit velocities up to 96.3 mph. On the infield, Bledsoe pairs advanced glove work with a developing arm up to 84 mph. A decent mover with a 7.08 60-yard dash, he combines athleticism, skill, and offensive upside to be another standout prospect in an already exciting 2029 class.

Hayes Algee RHP / SS / Simpson County Academy, MS / 2027

Hayes Algee (Class of 2027) is a two-way prospect at Simpson County Academy with a sturdy 5-11, 185-pound frame. He has shown strong progression, featuring a solid bat path with a line-drive approach and exit velocities reaching 95 mph. Defensively, he is developing his footwork to match a powerful arm that gets up to 89 mph across the diamond. A "must-follow" for recruiters this spring, Algee continues to prove his versatility and physical growth.

Knox McCardle SS / RHP / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2029

Knox McCardle, a 2029 prospect out of Northwest Rankin High School, boasts an athletic 5-11, 160-pound frame and is one of the more exciting young up-and-comers in the region. At the plate, he shows solid hands with present pop, registering exit velocities up to 98.2 mph, and operates with a middle-to-pull side approach. Defensively, he plays the infield with advanced feet and a strong arm, complementing his skill set with good speed, running a 6.93 in the 60. Knox’s combination of athleticism, defensive prowess, and emerging offensive tools make him a player with significant upside to watch as he continues to develop.

Braylon Edwards SS / Madison Central, MS / 2028

Braylon Edwards, a 2028 prospect from Madison Central, possesses a compact, athletic 5-10, 180-pound frame and has already distinguished himself as a former Super Sophomore participant. One of the top switch hitters in his class, Braylon can spray the baseball to all fields from both sides of the plate, showing a very similar approach and effectiveness from either side. His bat plays with some power, registering exit velocities up to 98 mph, while his 6.7-second 60-yard dash highlights his above-average speed. Defensively, he is an advanced infielder with excellent range and a solid 85 mph arm, rounding out a profile that projects as a very solid future at the next level.

Dawson Lewis SS / 2B / Northwest Rankin, MS / 2029

Dawson Lewis, a 2029 prospect from Northwest Rankin, has a lean, athletic 5-10, 165-pound frame and is quickly establishing himself as one of the top young talents in his class. A two-time Junior Future Games participant, Dawson shows excellent hands at the plate and can drive the baseball to all fields with authority, posting exit velocities up to 99 mph. His speed is a weapon on the basepaths, running a 6.83-second 60-yard dash, while his defensive skill set is advanced for his age, featuring solid arm strength, good range, and reliable glove work across the diamond. With a combination of athleticism, bat-to-ball skill, and defensive versatility, Dawson is an exceptional young talent with a very high ceiling and a player to watch closely as he continues to develop.

Jones Roberson 3B / 1B / Washington, MS / 2027

Jones Roberson, a 2027 prospect out of Washington School, possesses a strong, durable 5-11, 207-pound frame and has already made a name for himself as a former Future Games participant. He delivered arguably the best offensive performance we’ve ever seen at the event, showing a quick bat with natural loft and next-level pop, registering exit velocities up to 102 mph. Defensively, Roberson is a reliable corner infielder with a solid glove and arm, capable of throwing up to 84 mph across the diamond. A University of Central Arkansas commit, he combines elite offensive tools with advanced defensive skills, positioning himself for a big year ahead and a very bright future at the next level.

Reed Bridges 3B / 1B / Presbyterian Christian, MS / 2027

Reed Bridges, a 2027 prospect out of Presbyterian Christian, possesses a long, lean 6-3, 180-pound frame and continues to show steady progression with each outing. He uses leverage in his swing and is getting stronger, producing exit velocities up to 96 mph. Bridges operates with a gap-to-gap approach and slight loft, consistently putting the ball in play while creating offensive opportunities. Bridges also runs well, posting a 6.78-second 60-yard dash. Defensively, he is a reliable infielder with a glove that projects well and a strengthening arm capable of 83 mph across the diamond. With continued growth and refinement, Reed has the potential to surprise many this coming spring, making him a player recruiters should be paying close attention to.

Noal Timmons 1B / RHP / Tupelo, MS / 2029

Noal Timmons, a 2029 dual prospect out of Tupelo High School, possesses a lean, athletic 5-11, 170-pound frame and immediately impressed in his first full evaluation. A solid prospect on the rise, Timmons has a synced-up swing with a level bat path and good use of leverage, generating exit velocities up to 95.3 mph. Offensively, he operates with a middle-to-pull side approach, showing advanced feel for the barrel. Defensively, he is a reliable infielder with a solid glove and an accurate arm capable of 81 mph across the diamond. Noal’s combination of athleticism, offensive potential, and defensive ability make him a player we’re excited to track as he continues to develop.

Luke Wesson SS / OF / Hartfield Academy, MS / 2027

Luke Wesson, a 2027 prospect out of Hartfield Academy, possesses a durable 6-0, 188-pound frame and made a strong impression throughout the day with his tools. He started with a 6.61-second 60-yard dash, showcasing above-average speed for his size. At the plate, Wesson generated exit velocities up to 104 mph, operating with a pull-side approach and an intent to punish the baseball. Defensively, he shows good footwork on the infield and an accurate arm capable of 82 mph across the diamond. With his combination of athleticism, strength, and advanced offensive tools, Luke is a must-follow prospect to see how his abilities continue to translate to game performance.
