TEAM OUTLOOK
It was an enormous year a season ago for the Wildcats as they won a region championship and broke the school record for wins in a season. At the top it starts with a plethora of talented upperclassmen who lead the way. Senior OF Alec Koehly (Mercer) has shown well in each look and brings a potent hit/power combo to pace this offense. High-level competitiveness comes by the way of 2027 OF/LHP Spencer Leftoff. The uncommitted junior is a sparkplug atop the order with present bat-to-ball skills and provides a fixture in the rotation with pitchability in the low 80’s. A pair of commits including 1B Jack Abbott (Piedmont) and C Michael Renals (Cleveland CC) are two important returning starters that provide senior experience to the lineup that bode well for the nightly demands of region play. 2026 UTL Michael Gregozeski (Emmanuel) holds immense strength in the frame and could be a major source of power in the order while buttoning up a multitude of positions on defense. Senior SS Miles Thayer (Oglethorpe) possesses a mature approach at the plate with present feel to hit and yields strong defensive versatility as well. 2027 3B Tyler Luftig looks to be a consistent piece in the lineup and boasts present athleticism while supplying lockdown defense at the hot corner. Another fixture in the rotation is uncommitted senior LHP/OF Vincent Reiss who lives in the upper 80’s with feel for a 3-pitch mix and will look to carry an everyday role in the lineup. Uncommitted senior RHP John Whitt bolsters the staff as he is armed with mid-upper 80’s velocity and projection in a physical 6-foot-2 frame. A pair of uncommitted upperclassmen including OF/1B Ty Carter and C/CIF Max Blondheim strengthen the depth of the lineup with defensive flexibility as well as they look to carve out quality roles. Underclass impact on this club will come from sophomore 3B/RHP Charles Survilas who has been a steady performer over the years and boasts easy strength at the dish along with offering value on the mound. 2028 OF/LHP Everett Hammond, a dual-sport athlete, holds plenty of upside in a lean 6-foot-2 frame and aims to carry an important two-way role. The pieces are in place for Coach Smith and the Wildcats backed by a deep lineup as they look to compete for a region championship and make another run at the state title.
