Overall Summary

Ida B. Wells enters the 2026 season as an intriguing follow, returning some key pieces while graduating several key players from last year as well. The Guardians return their top two arms on the mound in juniors Jack Burnham and Grae Wilson. Burnham, a lanky lefthander with upside, threw 42.1 IP last spring with a 3.47 ERA. Wilson spun 31 innings of his own with a 2.48 ERA. Both arms limit walks, can produce swing and miss at times, and should see another leap as they enter their upperclass years. Offensively, junior catcher Ramsey Prentice headlines after a great sophomore spring. The durable talent is a plus runner and hit .427 with 27 runs and 19 RBI last season. Sophomore infielder Micah Burrell is another key contributor. The lefty bat has shown maturity and skill at events such as Prep Baseball's PNW State Games and West Coast Super Sophomore Games. Burrell also hit .296 in his freshman season. With many position players from last season graduating, look for players such as Walter Robinson and Andrew Smith to step up offensively. Wells will face many tough teams this spring, with games against South Salem, West Linn and Grant highlighting the schedule. Expect the Guardians to once again be a competitive 6A side this season.
