Avery Fouts
Associate Scout

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The expectations are high for this Spartans team as they look to get over the hump of missing the playoffs the past couple of seasons, behind an experienced veteran group. 4-year varsity starter and Lander University commit, 2026 OF Josh Streeter, paces this offense with a potent hit/power/speed threat at the top. Another focal point of this offense is SS/OF Caleb Holloman who boasts a high-floor profile throughout with a quality hit tool and a consistent glove to match at the 6. More senior experience comes from all-region honorable mentions a season ago including 2026 C/DH Harris Cornelius and 2026 3B/RHP Geremiah Starke. Both will be relied upon as dependable sticks in the middle-of-the-order. Junior 1B/C Kyle Grayson aims to be a source of power in the heart of the order. Dual-sport athlete 2027 UTL Zaire Sykes brings tons of athleticism to both sides of the ball and yields versatility defensively. A trio of juniors consisting of 2027 INF Noah Linnen, 2027 OF Reece Griffith, and 2027 RHP/INF Daniel Evangelista all look to take on larger roles this season and give consistency to the lineup. Evangelista holds two-way value as he has a chance to be a key piece out of the pen. 2027 RHP Graham Swerdlin returns as the ace of the staff with mid-upper 80’s velocity and feel for a deep mix with plenty of upside in the frame. Alongside Swerdlin in the rotation is junior LHP/OF Ryan Houston who sits in the mid-upper 80’s with projection remaining in a wiry 6-foot-2 frame and offers a well-rounded defensive skill set as well. Rounding out the rotation is multi-sport athlete, 2027 RHP/IF Davaun Dowdy, who provides leadership while equipping the lineup with strong tools to match. Underclass talent will come from a pair of sophomores including 2028 OF Mason Rubenstein and 2028 C/OF Jalen Mitchell who will look to make an impact as well. On paper the pieces are in place with an upperclass group where the talent runs deep and Coach Crowder will have this group ready to compete in a tough region with the likes of Marist and St.Pius X.
