Prep Baseball Dakotas

DAKOTAS, USA - We are less than one month away from the start of our 2026 event slate in the Dakotas, where our staff will visit both North and South Dakota for our Preseason ID and Rising Star ID events. Attending these events allows players to get updated numbers on their Prep Baseball Profile, allowing players to show off their off season improvements, and get them on the radar of our scouts and college coaches leading into the summer recruiting cycle.

Shortly after, the high school season will be off to the races in both states. Teams will be gutting it out the chilly months of March and April, looking to end their seasons in late May, with ambitions of becoming state champions. As our events and the high school season rapidly approaches, we will highlight 10 prospects from North and South Dakota that will be making an impact this high school season.

WINTER WATCHLIST

Brady Waddell SS / RHP / Rapid City Stevens, SD / 2027

We have seen the west side of the state produce talent especially out of the Rapid City area. Waddell participated in last summer’s future games and is currently ranked 7th in the Dakotas 2027 class. A steady riser since 2023 participating in his first event, Waddell continues to mature and grow both on the mound and offensively. Interesting prospect that will be in attendance February 21st in Sioux Falls.

Jacob Willardson RHP / Grand Forks Red River High School, ND / 2027

Coming from a Red River program that has no shortage of collegiate baseball players, Jacob Willardson has been on that track with his development over the last few years. With steady progression on the mound. Willardson ran his fastball into the mid-80s last summer with reports of big time gains over this offseason. Strong follow out of the 2027 class in the Dakotas.

Easton Sabers LHP / OF / Sturgis Brown High School, SD / 2028

A year younger, but going a little further west than Rapid is Sabers, a two-way talent out of Sturgis, SD. At last summer's Dakota State Games we saw improvement in all areas of Sabers’ game. Continuing to grow physically and develop, look for a jump metrically on the mound as well as offensively with the bat. An intriguing prospect to follow in the 2028 class.

Henry Schrum C / 3B / Fargo South High School, ND / 2028

Schrum is one of the few to be selected to Minnesota’s Jr. Future team out of North Dakota. A catcher first who can also play in the infield has improved drastically in the last year and a half. A standout last summer in Fargo, Schrum has matured physically and showed during the workout posting mid 90s exit velocities, upper 70s arm strength and solid pop times behind the plate, and runs well for the position. Schrum will continue to improve and also help his development, catching for Texas A&M commit Caden Nelson. Schrum will be in Fargo this March.

Kade Wede RHP / 3B / Harrisburg High School, SD / 2027

A future games selection last summer, Wede has developed into one of the more well rounded arms in South Dakota. Wede runs the fastball into the upper 80s and scratches 90s, but it's the multiple pitches for strikes that is intriguing from the right hander. A native of Harrisburg high school that competes for a state title every year, look for Wede to lead the charge this spring for the Tigers.

Aiden Herner RHP / OF / Bismarck Century High School, ND / 2027

The two-way prospect out Bismarck, ND showed out consistantly last summer on the club circuit. Herner showed a fastball that crept into the mid-80s with easy + repeatable mechanics, Herner has also shown a refined swing with added strength based off his winter training this off season. Herner will be potent for the Century Patriots on the mound and in the lineup this upcoming high school season.

Everett Salonen RHP / OF / Sioux Falls Jefferson High School, SD / 2027

As a 2025 Future Games participant, Jefferson’s right-hander showcased raw ability to throw and spin the ball. The broad shouldered arm lived in the upper-80s, mixed with a traditional slider and changeup that showcased 17 inches of run. With a full offseason of training, Salonen is on the cusp of making big strides in his game. Look out for Salonen on February 21st at the Preseason ID-South Dakota.

Kylan Pulkrabek OF / RHP / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2027

Before becoming the 2025 North Dakota State Champion, Kylan Pulkrabek showed pure athleticism at the Preseason ID-North Dakota event. A 6.74 runner and a 90+ arm from the outfield Pulkrabek, has the tools to defend at a high level, while putting up high 90s exit velos. Will be a name to watch for the Mustangs this spring with his development over this offseason.

Tucker Waddell SS / RHP / Stevens High School - 42, SD / 2028

Of the younger, more exciting follows in the Dakotas comes Waddell. A two-way player at the moment that shows ability offensively, defensively, and on the mound. An athletic build at 6-foot, 175-pounds, Waddell shows an above average arm, strength in the barrel, good speed, and a low to mid 80s fastball. A Super Sophomore participant, the young 2028 grad will be an interesting follow as he matures.

Landon Zink OF / LHP / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2027

Out of a loaded West Fargo Sheyenne Program, Landon Zink was a potent top of the order bat for the Mustangs all season long. Last summer, Landon showed off athleticism popping off a 6.78 run time and high-90s exit velos. Zink will be at the Preseason ID- South Dakota and will be a prospect to follow this spring and summer.
