As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Throw Tool Class of 2026

Beau Peterson 3B / RHP / Mill Valley, KS / 2026

It comes as no surprise that Peterson has been a regular on our top tools list due to his overall athletic ability, physicality, and well-rounded skill set on the diamond. His elite throwing tool has made him one of the top two-way players in the region and has kept him on the mound for Mill Valley, even though he projects as a day-one defender at the hot corner. On the mound, Peterson has been up to 94.4 MPH, and even more impressively, he has topped out at 96 MPH across the infield.

Peterson’s arm strength is a major reason we believe he can develop into a reliable professional defender, as it gives him a high level of versatility. Few infielders possess the arm strength to make every throw with consistency, and Peterson’s ability to deliver firm, accurate throws to both first and second base gives him a significant defensive advantage. We’re excited to see the adjustments he’s made heading into his senior year and where he lands over the next eight months.
