2026 Mississippi Player of the Year Watchlist

While it's too early to tell, several players come to mind when attempting to predict the to-be 2026 Player of the Year in Mississippi. Joseph & Jacob Parker's stellar season in 2025 earned themselves the Co-Player of the Year honors in at the state level. This years' class features several front runners with a strong track record and the talent to match. Several others have clear paths to the award in both the 2026 class and 2027 class in the Magnolia State.

Today our staff looks at 8 front-runners for the POTY award in Mississippi, 5 breakout candidates that could take home the award and 7 darkhorses who are poised for breakout spring season and could earn POTY honors.

Eric EJ Booth Jr. OF / 1B / Oak Grove, MS / 2026

Eric Booth Jr., a 2026 from Oak Grove High School and a Vanderbilt signee, had an outstanding 2025 season. The former Future Gamer batted .467 with six home runs, 25 RBIs, 12 doubles, five triples, and 27 stolen bases, making him a top contender for Mississippi Player of the Year this spring.
