Schaefgen’s earned an early reputation as one of the most productive hitters in this class, and we’ve seen a mature approach in the box in live game settings, and his latest offseason appears to have boosted his batted-ball profile in the meantime. Listed at a physical 6-foot-1, 219 pounds, the Ocon sophomore recorded one of the highest average exit speeds of the entire event (93.5 mph) with a 99.4 mph max. The right-handed slugger also moves very well for his age and stature, recording a 7.07 time in the 60-yard dash, and he’s also armed with plenty of strength to fit the third base mold, with 89 mph throws across. And while his future seems brightest positionally, Schaefgen’s arm strength also translates well on the mound, with mid-80s velo (86.5 mph max) on a high carry fastball. He’s one of the top sophomores in the area.
