2026 CHSAA Team Preview: Lutheran HS

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 5th, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Coach Hormann’s Lutheran Lions enter the 2026 season looking to maintain their status as a 4A threat. While the roster has seen some turnover, (specifically the loss of their ace from last spring), the pitching staff remains in capable hands. Expect a "committee" approach on the mound, with Warner, Stephenitch, and Petersen slated to eat the bulk of the innings. This trio provides a stable floor for a team that aspires to use advanced defense and a quality pitching staff to gain an edge over opponents.

The Lions' success will likely hinge on how quickly the bats catch up to the arms. University of Mary commit Anthony Misch serves as the definitive cornerstone of the lineup; his leadership in the infield and production at the plate are non-negotiable for the Lions' postseason aspirations. While the offensive depth is currently an unproven commodity, there is enough raw talent in the dugout to suggest they’ll be a tough out by end of spring. If the supporting cast can provide Misch with some protection, Lutheran is looking to be another threat in the 4A class.
