2026 OUTLOOK

+ Johnson County enters the 2026 season looking to build off a 15–13 finish in Class AA, returning a smaller but battle-tested core under head coach Nicholas Perkins. While the Longhorns graduated much of their everyday lineup, they bring back key two-way contributors and a group of developing pieces that will be asked to step into expanded roles as they navigate District 1 play.

The roster is anchored by a pair of versatile juniors in Kaden Blevins (2026) and Carson Jennings (2026), both of whom impact the game on both sides of the ball. Blevins brings a utility profile with mound presence, giving the Longhorns flexibility defensively while serving as one of the primary arms in the rotation. Jennings offers a similar two-way look, providing athleticism around the field while also handling meaningful innings on the bump. Their ability to contribute in multiple phases will be central to Johnson County’s success this spring.

On the mound, Jennings and Blevins headline the pitching staff, with underclass left-hander Brock Jones (2028) emerging as an important piece moving forward. Jones gives the Longhorns a different look from the left side and represents a high-upside arm who could see increased opportunities as the season progresses.

Additional depth comes from the 2026 class, where Avery Jones, Ethan Smith, and Chris Wilson are all pushing for consistent varsity roles and will be counted on to help fill everyday spots throughout the lineup. The 2027 group, led by Braxton Bragg and Grayson Espinoza, adds another layer of athleticism and developmental upside to the roster.

With returning two-way leaders, a young but growing pitching staff, and several players ready to take on larger responsibilities, Johnson County enters 2026 focused on establishing new lineup identities and building momentum in District 1. If the Longhorns can develop their depth early and get steady production from their core arms, they have the framework in place to take a step forward this spring.
