Coach’s Insight: “Experience and depth is definitely a strength for us moving into this season. When you look at our roster, we currently have several positions, especially on the infield, where both the starter and whoever is considered the back up at that moment both lettered on varsity last season. It is also worth noting that half of our returning lettermen are not just juniors and seniors, but sophomores as well. Last season, during the last month, our starting lineup would be littered with 2 or 3 seniors, 2 or 3 juniors, and 3 or 4 freshman. It is going to be exciting to see what the lineup can be day in and day out this season given our options in depth. Our biggest question mark as of right now is coming from our pitching staff. Last season, we were very senior heavy with our pitching staff. While we have a couple of guys returning who were able to log some innings for us last year, there is not a lot of experience when it comes to big game, critical moments. That's not to say we aren't confident with our staff at this point, because we feel we can put several guys on the mound who will compete and give our team a good chance to compete. But we are more untested on the varsity level when it comes to our pitching staff. So it will be crucial to get these guys as many innings on the mound as possible in the first 2 weeks of the season before conference play begins” – Matt Davis, head coach
