Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is right around the corner, and as always, excitement is building across the Bayou State. Programs from every corner of Louisiana have been hard at work this offseason—honing skills, building chemistry, and setting their sights on a return trip to Sulphur for the LHSAA State Championships. As is tradition, the state is once again loaded with talent, from seasoned veterans to rising underclassmen ready to make their mark.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll take an in-depth look at teams from every region as part of our comprehensive season preview series. These previews will lead right up to Opening Day, followed by the release of our Power 25 Rankings and the return of our always-popular Game of the Week feature.

Throughout the spring, Prep Baseball Louisiana will continue to be your one-stop source for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Be sure to check back weekly for our Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, updated Power 25 Rankings, and plenty of additional coverage highlighting the stories, performances, and programs that make Louisiana baseball special.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Preview

The Doyle Tigers enter the 2026 season with a renewed sense of determination after last year’s early playoff exit. Head Coach Tim Beatty’s squad returns a talented mix of proven upperclassmen and promising underclassmen, with pitching expected to be the backbone of this year’s team.

The Tigers will rely heavily on their experienced arms this spring. Senior Parker Taylor headlines the staff after posting a dominant 9-1 record with 77 strikeouts and a sparkling 1.31 ERA last season. Sophomore Zach Ray also returns as a key two-way piece, coming off a strong freshman campaign where he went 6-1 with 52 strikeouts and a 2.00 ERA. Senior Jacksen McCaskill adds valuable depth and versatility as an outfielder and right-handed pitcher, contributing a .300 average at the plate with a pair of saves on the mound in 2025.

While the Tigers feature strong leadership at the top, a large portion of the roster will be made up of underclassmen gaining their first taste of meaningful varsity action. Their ability to adjust and mature quickly will be crucial to Doyle’s postseason aspirations.

Top Returning Players

-Senior UTL/RHP Parker Taylor: Went 9-1 last season for the Tigers with 77 strikeouts and a 1.31 ERA.

-Sophomore C/RHP Zach Ray: Was named the District 8-3A Most Valuable Players last spring after going 6-1 with 52 strikeouts and a 2.00 ERA.

-Senior OF/RHP Jacksen McCaskill: Hit at a .300 clip last season as a junior and also posted 2 saves on the mound.

-Sophomore INF Brodie Keen: Had a jam-up freshman campaing last year after finishing with a .363 average.

-Junior DH/INF Tate Albin: Athletic left-handed hitter who posted a .301 average last spring as a sophomore.

-Sophomore INF Cooper Yuratich: Another young guy who made an impact last season hitting at a .303 clip for the Tigers.

Outlook

Coach Beatty and his staff believe this year’s blend of youth and experience has the potential to make some serious noise in Class 3A. The Tigers will lean on their strong pitching staff early while allowing their younger position players to gain confidence and settle in at the plate. If this group can continue to grow together throughout the season, Doyle has all the ingredients to make a deep playoff run in 2026.

The Tigers are poised to take a step forward this spring — competitive on the mound, confident at the plate, and eager to prove they belong among the state’s top 3A programs.
