As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Throw Tool Class of 2026

Gavin De Jesus SS / OF / Waukee High School, IA / 2026

De Jesus is pound-for-pound one of the most explosive athletes we had at the park this year and an absolute gamer. Much of the value he provides for his Iowa Sticks club comes from being a tone-setter at the top of the lineup and at shortstop. His physical tools and skill set are no joke, and the University of Iowa landed a true ballplayer.

Gavin really impressed our staff this fall when we saw him for the first time, and he was a joy to watch. His speed immediately stands out and is why he finished as one of our top runners. We also loved the arm strength and the way he plays defense. We’ve seen his infield velocity peak at 92 MPH, which gives him a real chance to remain at shortstop at the next level, and we expect that number to continue climbing as he adds strength.
