The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The War Eagles bring back loads of returning production with a strong lineup and underclass talent as they appear poised to build off a playoff appearance from a year ago. It all starts at the top with former senior future gamer OF/RHP Taylor Casson who brings a major two-way impact. The USF commit anchors the rotation as the ace with a mid 90’s fastball and a wipeout slider off it. Casson is a major source of power and speed in the heart of the order as well as he possesses big-time strength with real impact in the barrel to match. The engine that makes this offense go is uncommitted senior SS Niles Redrick who brings a potent hit/power combo to the leadoff spot and gives a strong glove up-the-middle. Uncommitted 2026 OF Connor Eberhart will be one of the main focal points of the offense as a high-level bat in the middle-of-the-order with projection in a wiry 6-foot-1 frame. Uncommitted senior OF/INF Noah Ellis showed well this Pre-Season and will fill a multitude of roles defensively while providing a consistent piece in the lineup as an on-base threat. The senior talent rolls on with C/UTL/RHP Jackson Tanner who could be a swiss-army knife type of player for Coach Fletcher and the War Eagles. Tanner yields two-way value and looks to carry important roles in both the rotation and lineup while bearing defensive versatility. Fellow uncommitted juniors including RHP/UTL Luke Johnson and RHP/UTL Payton Gunn look to take on larger roles in the lineup and offer value as they bolster the depth of the pitching staff as well. The x-factor for the club this season could be 2028 IF/OF/RHP Jackson Lee who has done nothing but impress in each setting and boasts a high-level hit tool along with plenty of athleticism to stick anywhere defensively. Lee also holds down a rotation spot as he sits in the low 80’s with quality pitchability and returns experience to the staff. More underclass impact will come from INF Dylan Staples who saw time last year and is armed with a strong defensive makeup while strengthening the depth of the lineup. The War Eagles retain nearly their entire roster from a year ago with experience and depth throughout as a stout senior class leads the way, and a playoff run could certainly be on the horizon.
