Georgia Dugout Club- Scout Blog
JD Aufderheide, OF, 2027, North Cobb Christian
Uncommitted. It has been quite the loud showing the past couple of weeks for Aufderheide as the trend continued further on Friday afternoon. Obvious strength and athleticism in the physical 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame with projection remaining. Stepped into the box during his first at-bat and hammered one over the LCF wall for the 2-run home-run. The barrel remained potent later in the game as he caught a 2-strike slider at the top of the zone and drove it over the LF wall for the no-doubt solo homerun. Balanced load and stays compact through the zone with impact in the barrel while creating easy carry to the pull-side. The track record for Aufderheide continues to grow as he boasts high-floor tools throughout and offers p4 upside while a huge Spring campaign appears to be under way.
Maverick Chitwood, OF/LHP, 2026, Habersham Central
Columbus State commit. Chitwood plays with his hair on fire at all-time as he brings high-level competitiveness to the diamond which bodes extremely well for the Raiders and company. The former Senior Future Gamer yields gamer qualities and present athleticism throughout. The southpaw turned out a dominant outing on the mound as he generated over 20+ whiffs with 13 strikeouts in a complete game win. Athletic mover and repeats well from a ¾ slot with excellent feel for the entire 4-pitch mix. Showed ability to command the fastball throughout the zone with plenty of whiffs in-the-zone at 80-81 and mixed in a sinker off it at 77-80. Advanced feel for a sharp slider at 69-72 with feel to tunnel and manipulate for whiffs. Changeup complimented the arsenal with tumble at 72-73. At the plate, Chitwood came through with a pair of knocks. Quiet setup and works from a direct path with feel to move the barrel around the zone in an all-fields approach. High-level bat to ball skills stand out in an advanced approach with tremendous pitch recognition and looks to do damage early in counts. You know what you get each time Chitwood takes the field as he brings a strong two-way profile and aims to lead the Raiders back to the playoffs and so forth.
Ryan Trout, RHP, 2027, North Oconee
The former Future Gamer and UCF commit put together an outstanding start in a much anticipated matchup against a potent opposing lineup. Present pitchability and projection remaining in the lean 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Compact arm stroke with real arm speed and advanced feel for the 3-pitch mix while repeating well from a ¾ slot. Struck out 7 across 4.0 shutout innings-pitched with only one hit and one walk. Fastball was consistently spotted on the outer half with ride at 86-88 (T89 MPH) for swing-and-miss. Curveball was the go to pitch with sharp bite and confidence in any count at 75-78. Changeup mixed into LHH with tumble at 81-83. Trout offers a fixture in a stout Titans rotation with plenty more to project and gives his squad a chance to win on a nightly basis against anyone.
Connor O’Mara, SS, 2026, North Oconee
The Wofford commit has been locked in at the dish to open the Spring and has set the tone in the middle-of-the-order for the Titans with each look. Boasts tons of athleticism with high-floor tools and plenty more to project in the lean 6-foot-0, 178-pound frame. The LHH showed extremely well across the weekend but stood out Saturday as he went toe to toe against one of the premier LHP’s in the class. Turned around 92 that left that bat at 98 EV and smoked it into RF for the 2 RBI triple along with coming through with an RBI backside knock later in the game. Quiet actions pre-pitch with excellent separation and transfers weight well through the zone. Compact stroke with fast hands and feel to move the barrel around the zone with adjustability in the path. Great balance and feel for the zone stand out with innate pitch recognition to match in an advanced all-fields approach. Impact defender in the dirt as well with lateral quickness and soft hands while being able to deliver accurate strikes from multiple spots in the dirt. O’Mara paces the offense in the middle with a potent hit/speed combo while offering high-level defense at a premium position for a squad that aims to hoist the 4A State Title. Armed with a plethora of tools throughout and has a real chance to make a day 1 impact from the moment he steps on campus at Wofford.
