2026 PA Preseason ID: Central: Takeaways


Pennsylvania Scouting Staff

On Monday, February 16th, the Prep Baseball New Pennsylvania staff hosted the 2026 PA Preseason ID: Central at Liberty Arena in Williamsport, PA. Over 50 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in Pennsylvania this upcoming spring.

We begin our post-event content today with our quick hits from the event, highlighting some of the notable players from the day and their numbers.

Position Players

+ 1B Gavin DiRita (Bonner-Prendergast, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 106 in the state’s 2027 class, DiRita was one of the standouts from the event, easy juice to the pull side making him a legitimate power threat from the left side, peaked his EV at 103.5 mph with a max distance of 364’.Also, displayed some bat speed, averaging 77 mph on the Blast. Certainly made a name for himself at the event and will be a sought after LHH in the state.

+ C Gabriel Nicholson (Norwin, 2028):
Nicholson burst onto the scene last year as a young freshman, now more physically mature, measuring 5-foot-9, 178-pounds. The RHH flashes natural ability to find the barrel with exit velocities nearing 97MPH, with a max distance of 373’ with some hand speed. Defensively, flashed a sub-2.00 pop time with a 73 mph arm from the chute. Going to be a fun summer watching him continue to develop.

+ C Gavin Myers (Trinity, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 78 in the state’s 2027 class, Myers has consistently been one of the best catchers within the Mid-Penn Conference and has proven this in a showcase setting, peaking his EV at 103 mph with an average of 94 mph and a max distance of 412’. Showed off some bat speed with an average of 76 mph, up to 81 mph. Defensively, reached a pop time as low as 1.87, up to 1.94 while tossing 81 mph from the chute. Added strength with real power upside, He has certainly made his case for one of the better uncommitted catchers in the class.

+ SS Aaron Concepcion (Woodland Hills, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 61 in the state, the SS has made significant jumps in almost all areas of his game, with noticeable twitch and showing power potential. Improved his 60-yard time by 0.73 seconds since August, running a 6.88, the power tool has ticked up as well, improving by 5 mph since August, now up to 100 mph with some improved bat speed numbers ticked up 3 mph, now averaging 71 mph.. Aaron is geared up to have a big time spring season.

+ OF Logan Gibson (Bellefonte Area, 2028):
Currently ranked No. 68 in the state’s sophomore class, Gibson showed one of the more intriguing frames of the day at 6-foot-4, 197-pounds with room to add strength. Generated hard contact throughout his round averaging over 90 mph EV, peaking at 99 mph, and flashed some bat speed. Showed off some athleticism in the 60-yard dash, running a 6.74. High follow as the high school season starts in just a few short days.

Two-Way Players

+ 3B/RHP Eric McAllister (Altoona Area, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 42 in the state’s junior class, McAllister has been an intriguing follow over the years, shows two-way potential but has really shined at the plate. On the mound, sitting in the low-80s, touching 85 mph with armside run and sink, displayed feel for both a CB and splitter. Offensively, swing is continuing to trend in the right direction with the innate ability to find barrels, up to 103 mph EV with an average of 89 mph and a max distance of 362’. Will be a big follow over the spring season.

Pitchers

+ RHP Zachary Lehman (Bellefonte Area, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 126 in the state’s junior class, the right-hander had one of the best bullpens of the day, sitting 88-89 mph with the fastball, in the zone, with an average spin rate of 2441 rpm. Also, flashed feel for a CB/CH offspeed mix. Executed to both sides of the plate with conviction. Also, showed the ability to manipulate shape on the curveball, allowing him to have success against all hitters.
