The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 23 for classes A and B and Mar. 1 for classes 2A-6A, opening day for regular season action under OSSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Top Returners:

• Barrett Standley - 2027 OF, 6'1", 195 lbs, L/L.
  • One of the top underclass bats in the state, has anchored our lineup his whole career and continues to improve and refine his game. Continually improving in the outfield and can expect a jump in power output this year. 
• Graham Knight - 2026 OF, 6'1", 190 lbs, R/R.
  • Under the radar a bit last year but has really come into his own this fall. Legit power threat that covers the whole plate. Good defender with a plus arm in the outfield. Cowley CC commit.
• Nate Gonzalez - 2026 INF, 5'10", 165 lbs, R/R.
  • Premium athlete and versatile defender. Hit in nearly every spot in our lineup last year and produced everywhere. Game breaking speed and with continued polish can be a very dangerous player. 
• John Crosby - 2027 INF, 5'10", 175 lbs, R/R.
  • Smaller role as a soph last year but had a huge summer and fall and is poised to contribute. Brings a high motor and plus athleticism. Has a chance to compliment power bats with good contact and speed on the bases.
• Dax Sullivan - 2027 INF, 5'10", 165 lbs, L/R.
  • Great athlete and budding leader in the program. Overall game has cleaned up through hard work and is another guy who plays incredibly hard and brings a lot of athleticism and instinct to the team. 

Top Newcomers:

• Jackson Turney - 2026 1B, 6'0", 250 lbs., L/L.
  • Has hit his entire career and brings elite LH power to the lineup. Has a chance to put up some big numbers and has had an immediate impact on the program. 
• Cody Young - 2026 INF, 6'0", 160 lbs., S/R.
  • Premium athleticism and plus IQ to go along with it. Elite tools and plays hard, has an incredibly high ceiling in the game. Cowley CC commit.
• Connor Arant - 2028 RHP/INF, 6'6", 230 lbs, R/R.
  • Massive individual with major upside on the mound. 3-sport athlete with a chance to carve out a big role on the mound. 

Key Players Lost:

• Brian Justice - (Barton CC)
• Coen Miller - (Coffeyville CC)
• Nate Lloyd 

Coach’s Insight: “I think we'll have a pretty balanced attack offensively. Have some guys with pop and some guys that can run and so we'll be able to generate offense a number of different ways. It will be important to make sure we have a deep bag of offensive weapons to utilize our tools. Overall athleticism and arm strength will lend itself to what I think will be a good defensive unit. We graduated a lot of innings on the mound and will look to some inexperienced guys to cover those innings. We have enough stuff to do it, it will fall to us as a coaching staff to get them caught up and ready to compete by March 2. ” – Dean Wilson, head coach

Outlook: Bixby will feature one of the top offenses in the state in 2026 with a mix of both returners and newcomers. They have an opportunity to be dynamic with multiple ways to beat opponents - advanced athleticism and speed on the bases near the top of the order and extra base hits throughout the middle. The Spartans should play exceptional defense leading to the only potential question mark being on the mound following the graduation of so many innings from a year ago. Expect Bixby to score runs in bunches with newcomers on the mound attacking the zone early and often, and the Spartans to challenge for another state title in 2026 coming off a state semifinal run a year ago.
