BOISE, ID – The Boise Preseason ID, one of the premier events on the Prep Baseball Idaho calendar, was held on Sunday, February 22 at Bihsop Kelly High School. The one-day showcase brought together a talented group of prospects from the 2026–2030 classes, each looking to establish an early evaluation heading into the spring season.

Participants took part in a pro-style workout that included batting practice tracked by TrackMan and Blast Motion, 60-yard dash testing powered by VALD Performance, and a full defensive evaluation. Pitchers threw bullpens tracked by TrackMan, allowing our staff to capture detailed metrics including pitch velocity, spin rate, and horizontal and vertical movement.

We begin our Post Event Coverage of the Boise Preseason ID with the Quick Hits, highlighting the 16 upperclass players who made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff.

Ayden Boyd OF / LHP / Bishop Kelly, ID / 2026

The uncommitted senior put together one of the top overall performances at the Boise Preseason ID with new personal bests posted throughout his day. We were able to see his power potential now transitioning into present power with his 101.4 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 99.7 mph average Exit Velocity, proving that he can find the barrel consistently and with authority. His athleticism continued to shine through on the defensive side where his feet worked efficiently to get him online to his target where he pulled down an 84 mph outfield velocity. This is a player we have circled this year to have a big season for Bishop Kelly.

Kai Benfield OF / RHP / Sugar-Salem, ID / 2027

A player that continues to see his game trend each time out with us, Benfield has seen his game parallel his added physical strength, and it was on full display at the Boise Preseason ID. His 99.1 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 93.1 mph average Exit Velocity. A player's physical stature is a direct testament to the work they put in off the field, and Benfield continues to put in the work to improve his physical strength, and we have seen his game take off over the last few years with the consistency now shining through and on full display this past weekend.

DJ Brokaw OF / 3B / Middleton, ID / 2026

A player who has been on our radar and we have been waiting to see his game come together is Middleton Senior, DJ Brokaw. The two-sport athlete put on a show during his batting practice session where he registered not only the event's Top TrackMan Exit Velocity, but one of the top Exit Velocities of the Preseason for the entire country at 106.1 mph. The Prep Baseball verified 6’3/204.6 outfielder has the tools to excel at the next level, and we only expect his game to continue to trend as he refines those tools and puts them on full display this spring.

Carson Cyganik C / 1B / Vallivue, ID / 2027

The West Coast Games standout put together another standout performance at the Boise Preseason ID with added feel and consistency present throughout his game. One of the top receivers in Idaho’s 2027 class, his present catch-and-throw ability paired with the consistent sub 2.00 pop times makes this a catcher that should be on more than a few radars heading into his junior spring. An area we are looking forward to see continue to trend this spring is his ability at the plate where we expect to see his flashes of power potential turn into present power, adding another tool to his game.

KC Corley 3B / 1B / Centennial High School, ID / 2027

Corley was another player we were excited to see the progression in his game at the Boise Preseason ID and we were not disappointed. The Centennial product improved on almost every metric that applied to him including a new personal best 95.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity as well as a 93.2 mph average Exit Velocity proving that he can find a good part of the barrel consistently and with authority to the big part of the yard. Keep an eye on this infielder as a player we expect to be a significant piece of the Centennial lineup this coming spring.

Austin Hartnett OF / RHP / Rocky Mountain, ID / 2026

In his second time out with us, Hartnett put together a loud performance at the plate, showing off his present power, especially to the pull side, highlighted by his 98.2 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity to go along with a 90.9 mph average Exit Velocity. The improved Hand Speed - 20.5 mph as well as his improved Bat Speed - 76.0 mph, proves the work he has put in to add strength to his frame and we saw it translate this past weekend at the Boise Preseason ID, and we look for him to carry that into the senior spring.

Tav Hiaring C / Mountain View, ID / 2027

The 2025 West Coast Games standout, continues to impress each time out with us with incremental jumps being made in his game as well as his consistency improving in each part as well. The advanced receiving plus improved efficiency in his catch and throw with consistent sub 2.00 pop times makes this future Texas A&M Texarkana product a player that we only expect to see his game trend heading into a spring where he is expected to be a key piece for a Mountain View program that has their sights set on the ultimate prize this spring.

Ryder Hollifield 1B / RHP / Mountain View, ID / 2027

Another Mountain View product that had himself a day at the plate at the Boise Preseason ID, Hollifield continues to see his game trend with us each time out. The added physical strength to his growing frame, now 6’1/214.1, mirrors the progress made at the plate as his power tool now starts to shine through with much more to come.

Stanley Jensen SS / OF / Timberline, ID / 2027

Arguably the top athlete in attendance at the Boise Preseason ID, Jensen put together another standout performance where he improved on multiple metrics, finding himself out near the top of multiple leaderboards. His 6.78 VALD 60 Time led the event, carrying that into an infield workout where he showed off his improved defensive actions with easy flow through the ball and on target throws. At the plate, he stayed within his game producing a long drive-filled batting practice session where he registered a new personal best 94.4 TrackMan Exit Velocity along with a 90.5 mph average Exit Velocity, proving his ability to consistently find the barrel. Keep an eye on Jensen as a significant contributor for Timberline in the spring.

Payton Kostial C / 2B / Sugar-Salem, ID / 2027

The Sugar-Salem product was another player we had circled on our event roster as one we were excited to see how his game has progressed. Though he was limited with just doing the offensive portion and athletic testing, he excelled at both with one of the most impressive batting practice sessions of the day, as he put up a new personal best TrackMan Exit Velocity of 98.3 mph to go along with his trending bat speed of 74.4 mph. This is another player that we expect to be a key contributor for the Diggers this coming spring.

Jack Meimann RHP / OF / Borah, ID / 2027

The Prep Baseball verified 6’5/176.6 right-hander was another player we were excited to see how his game is trending with his previous event being exactly one year prior. Meimann put together one of the most impressive pens of the day with his fastball running up to a new personal best 87.0 mph with present, natural heaviness. He also flashed an improved secondary mix with his change-up sitting at 80–81 mph with a 1385 rpm Spin Rate to go with an approved breaking ball that still has room to tighten up and work a bit more effectively off the fastball. This is another exciting arm in Idaho's 2027 Class that we look forward to following this spring.

Hayden Nahay 3B / RHP / Skyline Senior High School, ID / 2027

Arguably the biggest winner at the Boise Preseason ID was Skyline product, Hayden Nahay. Coming into the event with obvious added strength to his 6’1 frame, he saw an improvement in almost every metric that applied to him, also earning his spot at or near the top of multiple leaderboards. His 104.7 TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 94.3 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity were a pair of new bests for him, as well as his event best 398 foot Max Distance. His standout day did not end there as he registered an 88 mph Infield Velocity with improved defensive actions, including easier lateral range that he flowed through with accurate throws to follow. Nahay will be amongst the highest risers in Idaho’s 2027 class and he seems to just be scratching the surface of what's to come.

Treagen Orr RHP / 1B / Madison, ID / 2027

Another Riser at the Boise Preseason ID was 2027 Madison product, Treagan Orr. The junior put together, arguably the most impressive pen of the day with his fastball, reaching up to an event best 90.3 mph with some natural arm-side life. The secondary mix continues to trend as well with feel for his three-pitch mix that consisted of a change-up, curveball and slider. The slider is thrown with more conviction and works well off of his fastball while the change-up also produces similar arm action with more depth to go along with the arm-side run. Standing at 6’1,176.2, there’s still plenty of room to fill out his lean, wiry frame that only leads you to believe that there is still much more in the tank. Orr is on track to be one of the next top arms to come out of Idaho.

Truman Sermon SS / 2B / Skyline Senior High School, ID / 2027

Another standout at the Boise Preseason ID was Skyline product, Truman Sermon. This is another player that we have only seen his game continue to trend each time out with us and this time was no different with improved metrics throughout his game on both sides of the ball. Always having advanced defensive actions, the arm strength is also becoming a significant tool in his arsenal as he ran it up to earn a share of the event best Infield Velocity at 90 mph on a brisk day. His day didn’t stop there as he put together arguably his best offensive performance with us with a 98.4 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 85.3 mph average Exit Velocity, proving that he can find the barrel consistently and with authority. This is another player we expect to have a loud spring.

Braylon Schellhammer OF / Mountain View, ID / 2027

One of the top overall athletes in attendance at the Boise Preseason ID, Schellhammer put together another impressive performance highlighted by his new best TrackMan Exit Velocity of 93.6 mph. There is a lot to like with Schellhammer‘s game as the athleticism shines through, especially on the defensive side of the ball with active feet through his fielding process, pulling down accurate throws from the outfield. This adds another standout player to an already talented Mountain View roster.

Kellen Viehweg RHP / 1B / Middleton, ID / 2027

Arguably the most polished arm at the Boise Preseason ID was 2025 Future Games alum, Kellen Viehweg. With his fastball hitting a new personal best of 89.1 mph with an average spin rate of 2451 rpm, the present life was there as well as the command in the zone. One of the areas that we saw him progress the most was with his secondary mix, improving feel and pitch shape for both his change-up and breaking ball that both worked around the zone effectively. Viehweg has all the attributes of an exciting prospect as he stands at a Prep Baseball verified 6’4/212.8 (and growing) to go with his trending mix that we project to only continue trending over the next two years.
