2026 Minnesota High School Preview: Champlin Park

Andy Judkins
State Director, Prep Baseball Minnesota

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement is building throughout Minnesota. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there is no shortage of talented players and teams across the land of 10,000 lakes.

Prep Baseball Minnesota strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. Prep Baseball is the number one resource for high school baseball in each state that we cover through various events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work together, creating each state's most potent high school baseball promotion source. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Player of the week and Diamond Notes, covering all the bases across the state of Minnesota.

TEAM OUTLOOK

"Following a third-place finish in the State Tournament last year, we are fortunate to return most of our pitching staff. This group is led by senior Evan Nordby (Mankato State), who earned All-Conference and All-District honors last spring. Joining him are the All-Conference, Tanner Wylie (Concordia St. Paul), Donovan Vendle (Sioux Falls), and Josh Henchen (St. Scholastica). In the field, we return several players with multiple years of varsity experience. Rhys George returns to center field, Cal Ockuly returns behind the plate, and Donovan Vendle will continue his role in the outfield. We are also looking for continued contributions from Luke Carlson, who started at third base as a sophomore, along with Caleb Greer and Christian Dull, both of whom are committed to Bemidji State. While we have the difficult task of replacing a talented 2025 class, we are excited about some of our younger players, including Damon Torke, who gained valuable experience as a sophomore. This group brings a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm in the dugout and I think it's going to be a fun season. Our conference and district remain highly competitive, and we understand the discipline required to compete and we’re looking forward to the challenge of returning to the State Tournament.
” – Ryan Tohm, head coach
