The 2026 Tennessee high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the state tournament championships – but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ West High School enters the 2026 season looking to turn a .500 campaign into a deeper postseason push after finishing 18–18 a year ago. Under head coach Rob Stacy, the Rebels bring back a sizable and experienced core, particularly on the position-player side, with multiple returning starters who logged meaningful varsity innings and at-bats in District 3 play. That continuity should allow West to hit the ground running as roles are already defined and expectations are established.

Offensively, the Rebels are built around a balanced, veteran-heavy lineup. Mason Dugan (2026, Centre College) anchors the infield at third base and provides a steady presence in the middle of the order. Dugan’s physicality, ability to drive the baseball, and experience at the hot corner make him one of the more reliable run producers on the roster. Behind the plate, Griffin Smith (2026) returns as a key piece on both sides of the ball, giving West stability defensively while also contributing consistent at-bats. Smith’s leadership and game management will be critical for a staff that leans on multiple arms.

Up the middle, Dylan Stenstrom (2026) patrols center field and brings athleticism, range, and table-setting ability to the lineup. His ability to impact the game defensively while applying pressure on the bases gives the Rebels an important dynamic element. Will Lenczynski (2027) projects as the everyday shortstop and provides a steady glove with a growing offensive profile, while Brady Hopkins (2027) gives West size and strength at first base, projecting as another potential middle-of-the-order option.

Depth is a strength for this group. Morgan Ferrell (2027) offers flexibility behind the plate, Jack Moffett (2027) brings experience and production in the corner outfield, and Coleman Miller (2028), Eli Weissfeld (2028), and Andrew Osuna (2028) represent a talented underclass trio that already factors into the varsity mix. That blend of upperclass stability and younger upside gives West multiple lineup options as the season progresses.

On the mound, the Rebels return a committee-style staff with several arms capable of filling different roles. Griffin Smith headlines the group, giving West a trusted option who understands how to compete in big moments. Brennan Mustard (2028) is a younger arm with upside who could take on an expanded role, while James Huffman (2027) and Maddox Moffit (2027) provide additional versatility as two-way contributors. Simon Zomchick (2027) rounds out the group, offering depth and matchup flexibility as West navigates district play.

The 2026 and 2027 classes are particularly important to West’s ceiling this season. Players like Abram Ward (2026), JB Moore (2027), Brady Trent (2027), and others give the Rebels options across the diamond and allow the coaching staff to manage workloads and matchups throughout the spring.

With a deep returning lineup, experienced defenders at premium positions, and a pitching staff that can mix and match, West High enters 2026 as a club capable of taking a step forward. If the Rebels can find consistent production on the mound and capitalize on their offensive depth, they have the pieces in place to challenge for a higher finish in District 3 and make noise when postseason play arrives.
