The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 23 for classes A and B and Mar. 1 for classes 2A-6A, opening day for regular season action under OSSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.
Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Coach’s Insight: “Team will be well rounded and play a high caliber defense. We return a few arms from the state tournament team who's roles will increase significantly. The pitching will be the key for a post season run. Pitching depth with new arms seeing more time at the varsity level.” – Shane Hawk, head coach
Outlook: Choctaw is fresh off another state tourney run in 2025 as one of the most balanced teams in the state. The Yellowjackets lose some very valuable and talented contributors from a year ago, but host one of the deeper rosters in the state where some younger players will get a true shot to make an impact at the varsity level in 2026. While returning numerous starters from a season ago, they featured one of the most consistent team-oriented offenses from top to bottom led by players like Titus Hawk and Broedy Taron and now include talented CF Josiah Kemp at the top of the lineup this spring. Rarely punching out, they forced teams to beat them as they found a way to pressure teams throughout the game. Depth on the mound will be a question mark, but do not be surprised to see a fundamental team that doesn't beat themselves making a run at the state tourney again in 2026.
