West Milwaukee Preseason ID: 2028/2029 Quick Hits

On February 22, Prep Baseball Wisconsin hosted its latest event along the 2026 winter showcase circuit, the annual West Milwaukee Preseason ID at GRB STiKS Academy in Waukesha, WI. Around 100 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of prospects to follow in an area of Wisconsin that regularly produces some of the state’s top talent.
Today, we’ll be highlighting the players who stood out in Waukesha within this Quick Hits piece for the 2028/2029 players in attendance. Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue to break down the in-depth metrics measured at this event, with the help of our tech partners TrackMan, Blast Motion, VALD, and Vizual Edge.

POSITION PLAYERS
+ C Braedon Paczocha (Mukwonago, 2028) is one of the top players in the state regardless of class. The sophomore backstop impressed with his advanced offensive and defensive toolset yet again. He registered a 97 mph max exit velocity and a 92.0 mph average exit velocity, fueled by an extremely well-sequenced swing with tons of feel to hit and feel for the barrel (91% rate). Behind the plate, Paczocha recorded pop times ranging from 1.97-2.08 seconds with a 78 mph catcher velocity. He has an advanced feel for the catching position with extremely soft hands and a comfortable set up behind the plate. He carries himself well behind the gear offering a calming leadership type presence for pitchers. He also demonstrated his athleticism with a 6.92 60-yard dash. Potential power threat from the catching position and remains a player that could find himself shooting higher national boards in the near future.

+ INF Colin Peterson (Pewaukee, 2029) was one of the biggest winners of the day on Sunday and solidified himself as a name to know in the state. Peterson is a left-handed hitter with long levers and projection in his frame. He should add quite a bit of strength to his well-proportioned frame. With the bat, he works from an open setup with a rhythmic and consistent move to the hitting position on time. There is a hitterish feel to the operation of this offensive profile and this bat will play with consistent barrel contact and eventual power. He posted a max exit velocity of 93 mph and an average exit velocity of 88.3 mph. Defensively, Peterson displays athletic actions, easy feet, and soft hands, executing a clean glove-to-hand transfer with ease. His arm speed allows him to sling accurate throws with carry across the infield at 72 mph. More arm strength is coming in the near future which should allow him to stick at shortstop long term. Peterson's projectable frame and consistent left-handed bat give him significant offensive upside to go along with the middle of the diamond defense on the dirt.

+ 3B/OF Tyson Carr (Marquette University, 2029) is a left-handed hitting infielder who possesses a super projectable frame with long levers and sloped shoulders. He hits with a slightly open stance and rhythmic load to the hitting position and has a knack for the barrel. Carr demonstrated impressive raw power, logging a max exit velocity of 97 mph and a strong average exit velocity of 87.9 mph. This is a pure left handed swing that is going to be impactful to any line up. Defensively, he showed an 80 mph infield velocity with a quick and whippy arm who is capable of throwing from multiple slots. Upside left-handed bat that broke out as a high-follow from the event.

+ 1B/OF Emmett Dargatz (Waterford Union, 2029) is a right-handed hitter with long levers and projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 204 pounds. He hit with a balanced and repeatable right-handed swing with tons of leverage hammering balls to all fields and reaching a 93 mph max exit velocity and an 87.2 mph average exit velocity. It’s an all fields approach and should be able to get to an offensive profile who will have power to all fields. Defensively, Dargatz showcased easy actions at first base and should be an asset at first base. He also showcased quality actions during outfield defense and should be able to handle left field.

+ C Carter Thoen (Waterford Union, 2029) is an intriguing upside backstop who opened some eyes with his performance on Sunday. A smooth swinging right-handed hitter, Thoen registered a 97 mph max exit velocity and an 81.1 mph average exit velocity. It’s a middle of the field approach with the ability to drive it to all fields. Behind the plate, he recorded pop times ranging from 1.97-2.15s, paired with a 73 mph catcher velocity. It’s a short and quick turn around of the baseball to control the running game. He has soft and clean hands receiving the ball and handling a pitching staff. Thoen projects as a developing power bat with the ability to catch and throw. It’s a rare profile that our staff remains highly interest.
+ OF Reid Schultz (Wauwatosa West, 2028) is a smooth swinging left-handed hitter with an athletic build, recorded a 95 mph max exit velocity and an 86.8 mph average exit velocity. The swing is consistent and repeatable as he has a natural and fluid trigger getting to strong launch position on time. The hands and barrel are whippy through the baseball and he showed the ability to drive the ball to the pull side throughout his round. From the outfield, he shows a quick arm working through the ball and registered an 84 mph arm demonstrating some raw arm strength. Schultz projects as an impactful offensive contributor with the ability to play quality outfield defense. Our staff is intrigued by the sophomore from Wauwatosa West.
+ INF Max Egan (Whitefish Bay, 2028) presents a super projectable build with long levers. He displayed a controlled and quiet approach at the plate that produced consistent line through the middle of the field throughout his round. He registered a strong 92 mph max exit velocity and an average exit velocity of 84.9 mph. Egan's hitability suggest projects him as a reliable offensive contributor with power potential as he physically matures to go along with the advanced defense we’ve seen throughout our history with the player. Our staff remains very high on Egan.
+ INF Jake Fuchs (Westosha Central, 2028; uncommitted) displays an athletic build at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds with plenty of room to fill out his frame. From an upright and open setup, he makes a controlled and balanced move, striding away from his hands to create a strong, on-time launch position. His swing is simple and repeatable and continues to display impressive feel for the barrel and feel to hit. Defensively, Fuchs shows athletic feet and smooth actions in the infield with the rangy first step and soft hands. His arm stroke is fluid and accurate, allowing him to throw from multiple slots. Fuchs projects as a steady middle infielder with room for offensive growth as he physically matures.
+ OF Sebastian Lopez (Homeschool (Sparta), 2028) is a wiry and athletic right-handed hitter that should add strength to his 5-foot-8, 144 pound athletic frame. During the hitting portion of the event, Lopez showcased an on-plane swing with a direct path, consistently finding the barrel and driving the ball to the middle of the field. Defensively, he shows a short, loose arm action from a high 3/4 slot, delivering an 84 mph outfield velocity. All tools will continue to tick up on Lopez who has smooth and loose actions in every part of his game. Arrow continues to be up on the sophomore outfielder.
+ INF/RHP Chase Horn (Muskego High School, 2029) impressed both with the glove and with the bat on Sunday. With the bat, he hit with a balanced move to the hitting position. His athletic and handsy swing allows him to work inside the baseball, with feel to drive the ball with authority through the big part of the field. On the dirt, he displays clean feet and soft hands that work to the pocket, paired with a clean and efficient transfer. His short, loose arm action allows him to throw accurately from multiple slots. Horn’s defensive profile, and quality swing make him an interesting prospect to follow.
+ INF Erik Novak (Westosha Central, 2028) is long levered with noticeable strength throughout his frame, offering significant projectability. With the bat Novak maintains a flat path through the zone, demonstrating a good feel for the barrel and driving the ball in the air through the middle of the field, reaching a 94 mph max exit velocity and an 85.1 mph average exit velocity. In the infield, he moves athletically around the baseball, working under control with good range. The arm plays accurately with carry through the target. Novak’s combination of physical tools and hitting ability positions him as a prospect firmly on our radar heading into the spring.
+ UTL Jackson Suttle (Brookfield East, 2028) measured at 5-foot-9, 155 pounds and possesses an athletic build with strength, projecting well as he continues to mature. Suttle is a player we have ID’d in the past who has feel to hit and that was on display again on Sunday.He found the barrel consistently, posting a max exit velocity of 90 mph and an average exit velocity of 82.4 mph. Behind the plate, Suttle displayed fluid feet and steady hands, recording pop times ranging from 2.01-2.15 seconds with a 74 mph catcher velocity. His arm speed and accurate throws also showed good carry. Suttle projects as a future offensive threat with defensive versatility including being a quality backstop.
+ C Tanner Schneider (Mayville, 2028) possesses a well-proportioned, projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with plenty of room to add strength. The right-handed hitter starts from a stock setup, utilizing a controlled move to the launch position. He is athletic with notable bat speed, working through the middle of the field and finding the barrel consistently. Schneider posted an impressive max exit velocity of 95 mph and a strong average exit velocity of 89.9 mph. Behind the plate, he recorded pop times between 2.06-2.09 seconds with a 76 mph catcher velocity. Schneider has the potential to project as a quality backstop with the chance to hit and hit for power and our staff has him on our radar moving forward.
+ INF Caleb Kreuser (New Berlin West, 2028) possesses a strong and sturdy build and showcased solid hitability on Sunday. His quick and handsy approach produced hard barrel contact throughout the round. He has strength in his frame that will continue to tick up as he matures which will result in some notable power. Kreuser is an interesting follow going forward.
TWO-WAYS
+ SS/RHP Eli Hart (Bay Port, 2028) is an athletic two-way prospect with a projectable frame. Hart continues to open eyes with the bat, glove and on the mound. At the plate, he posted a 98 mph max exit velocity and a 92.5 mph average exit velocity which indicate he was consistently on the barrel throughout the round. Defensively, Hart displayed clean feet and steady hands at shortstop with an accurate and reliable arm. On the mound, the RHP delivered a fastball in the 79-81 mph range, featuring a 1,979 rpm average spin rate (2,138 rpm max) with 9.8 IVB and 10.2 horizontal movement, along with a 71-73 mph slurvy slider (2,074 rpm avg, 2,189 rpm max, -1.3 IVB). It’s an arsenal that tunnels well with all of his pitches providing some deception to the pitcher profile. His athleticism was also on display as he also recorded a 6.84 60-yard dash. Hart solidified himself as one of the top prospects in the state for the class of 2028.

+ 3B/RHP Jacob Madlung (Arrowhead, 2028) is a projectable bodied athlete who measured in at 6-foot-3, 204 pounds. At the plate, he recorded a 101 mph max exit velocity and a 91.7 mph average exit velocity, stemming from a simple, clean swing that he can repeat at will. There is going to be significant in game power likely coming in the near future. Defensively, Madlung displayed quality actions and soft hands, paired with an excellent 89 mph infield velocity. On the mound, the right-hander worked his fastball in the 84-87 mph range, topping at 88 mph and drove the fastball through the catcher. He complemented his fastball with a 75-77 mph curveball and a 79-80 mph changeup with some run and depth to the pitch. Madlung's athleticism was also evident in his 6.99 time in the 60 as he has excellent burst and turnover especially from the long levered frame.

He continues to impress our staff with his fast hands and bat and knack for the barrel. Resch generated a max exit velocity of 102 mph and an average exit velocity of 93.9 mph as he was hitting rockets throughout his round of batting practice. On the mound, his fastball reached 91 mph, showing arm-side run and feel for the zone, with an average spin of 2,268 rpm and a max of 2,391 rpm. He pairs it with an 80-82 mph changeup that features arm-side sink and a tight, high-spin cutter sitting 77-79 mph. Resch projects as a high-floor, high-ceiling two-way prospect with a power arsenal on the mound and tons of feel to hit and hit for damage. The sophomore two-way is a name to know in the state.

On the mound, the southpaw features a controlled and well-sequenced delivery with a loose and fluid arm from a low 3/4 slot. He ran the fastball up to 83 mph with both four-seam sink and two-seam run through the hitting zone. He paired the fastball with a big breaking slider with 2/8 shape at 71-73 mph (2,379 rpm avg spin) showing out-pitch quality. Alesci projects as a high-level two-way talent with advanced hitting feel and a developing three-pitch mix.

With the bat, he repeated a rhythmic swing getting through the baseball and finding the barrel consistently. He has a direct path to the ball with feel to elevate through the big part of the field. On the mound, the southpaw employs a hybrid setup with a medium knee lift, working cleanly and linearly from a loose, full arm action and 3/4 slot. His fastball sat 79-80 mph, topping at 80 mph, with an average spin of 2,147 rpm, showcasing armside run and sink. Thomas also featured a tight, 11/5 curveball at 68-70 mph and a developing circle changeup at 73-75 mph that runs armside. There is little doubt that the freshman will be a guy whose stuff takes a big jump in the near future.

+ SS/RHP Brock Stuck (Nicolet, 2029) showcased why he is a highly ranked player in the state for the 2029 class. Stuck is a projectable bodied two-way who measured in at 5-foot-10, 158 pounds. He has a knack for the barrel and he showed an impressive 89 mph max exit velocity with an 83.6 mph average exit velocity. He will have plenty of arm strength to stick at shortstop long term as the tools will undoubtedly tick up and he displayed soft and clean hands working through the ball. On the mound, the right-hander features an athletic delivery with a higher leg kick and coiled balance point, operating from a short, high 3/4 slot. His fastball sits 79-81 mph, showing clean action out of the hand with run. He also features a 68-69 mph curveball with 1,949 rpm of spin and 11-5 shape. Stuck projects as a high-upside two-way prospect with a polished feel for multiple pitches and our staff is excited to view him in game in the spring and summer seasons.

+ RHP/SS Brady Lauer (Germantown, 2028) stands 5-foot-10, 161 pounds with long levers and an athletic build. The right-handed hitter showcased bat speed and an efficient path to and through the baseball from a rhythmic swing and was in the upper 80s with exit velocities. On the mound, Lauer utilizes a controlled delivery with full arm action into a high 3/4 slot that he repeats. He touched 83 mph with his fastball, which features armside run and an average spin of 1,929 rpm. His 76-77 mph changeup tumbles with low spin (915 rpm average), projecting as a future out-pitch, while his developing 72-74 mph curveball flashes 11/5 shape. Lauer's two-way upside makes him an intriguing prospect and one our staff continues to be high on.
+ LHP/OF Callen Mirek (Kettle Moraine, 2028) has a high waist and long levers, an athletic frame that will continue to add strength. As a left-handed hitter, he gets to a strong loaded position on time and has a hitterish feel to the operation in the box. He found the barrel consistently, recorded a max exit velocity in the upper 80s which will only improve as he adds to his 5-foot-11, 146 pounds frame. On the mound, the southpaw works from a stretch-only, tall and fall delivery with a longer 3/4 loose arm swing, featuring a fastball up to 76 mph with 1,842 rpm average spin and armside run. Mirek also shows a breaking ball and a changeup with run and sink. Both secondary offerings he can control both in and out of the zone. Mirek is a super intriguing prospect once he adds mass and strength to his frame as the tools will undoubtedly tick way up. Our staff has Mirek firmly on their radar heading into the spring season.
+ OF/RHP Evan Burch (New Berlin West, 2029) measured in at 6-foot, 158 pounds with long, wiry levers and a chance to add size to his frame. With the bat he showcased a rhythmic and well sequenced move through the baseball that created hard line drive contact throughout his round. He generated a 90 mph max exit velocity and an 86.9 mph average exit velocity which were near the event lead for the 2029 group in attendance. On the mound, the right-hander’s delivery showed athleticism and repeatability throughout his bullpen. His fastball sat 81-82 mph, topping at 82 mph, with an average of 2,007 rpm and 18.2 inches of vertical break, showing life and carry. He also mixed in a slider at 76-77 mph and a changeup 72-78 mph with 1,734 rpm average spin that flashed above-average fading action. Burch projects as a high-upside two-way prospect with a projectable frame.
+ RHP/3B Fynnigan Brovold (Mukwonago, 2029) possesses a strong, sturdy build at 6-foot-2, 223 pounds. At the plate, he hit with a wide base with balance and rhythm consistently on time to the hitting position. He was staying through the big part of the field throughout his round and registered a 89 mph max exit velocity and an 82.2 mph average exit velocity. He displayed soft hands and quality footwork during infield defense. On the mound, Brovold employs a controlled delivery that he repeats with loose and fluid arm action. His fastball reached 80 mph and played through the hitting zone with some arm side run and sink. He also throws a short, 10/4 breaking curveball (66-67 mph, 2,243 rpm average spin) and a changeup (71-73 mph, 1,572 rpm average spin) with fading action. Brovold is a promising young arm with three-pitch feel and projectable stuff to go along with his ability to hammer baseballs to all fields. Our staff certainly liked what it saw from the talented two-way and he is firmly on our radar moving forward.
PITCHERS
+ RHP Maxwell Webb (Port Washington, 2028) is one of the most intriguing arms in the 2028 class and he shows plenty of upside potential with his projectable frame and quick arm. Consistently repeated his delivery and leveraged the ball downhill and through the hitting zone. His clean, longer arm action from a high 3/4 slot produced an 87 mph fastball with an average spin of 2,317 rpm, with zone sink and run to the pitch. He complemented this with a downer 11/5 curveball at 74-75 mph (2,486 rpm avg spin) with two-plane tilt and break and and a tight-spinning slider at 76-77 mph (2,277 rpm avg spin) with 10/4 shape to the pitch. Webb also threw a changeup at 82-84 mph that maintained arm speed, showing sink and run armside. He gets to a coiled balance point from a higher leg kick and drives down the mound with a strong lower half. His medium arm draw and high 3/4 slot generated a fastball that sat 85-86 mph, topping at 86 mph, with an average spin of 2,127 rpm and notable running action through the hitting zone. He showed a slurvy slider at 72-74 mph (2,230 rpm avg spin) with a short bite and feel for the zone with the ability to get chase out of the zone as well. Vitucci's changeup stood out as an out-pitch weapon at 75-76 mph, exhibiting sinking action and heavy fade. Vitucci is a prospect that has a high ceiling and high floor and our staff is excited about viewing him in game.

+ RHP/SS Henry Bitenc (Wauwatosa East, 2028) is a well proportioned framed athlete who measured 6-foot, 178 pounds. The right-hander opened some eyes with his performance on the bump on Sunday. He repeated a loose and fluid delivery from a 3/4 slot and ran the lively fastball up to 87 mph with hard and late running action when it got to the hitting zone. He pairs the heater well with a 78-80 mph good feel to command a changeup with late sink that tunnels out of the same window. He rounds out his arsenal with a short and quick slider at 74-76 mph slider that he is able to land in zone. Bitenc projects as a high-upside arm with a developing three-pitch mix.
