Coaches Outlook: “The 2026 Mount Vernon Bulldogs look to compete in every single game. We return many players who have played/started in two 3A state championship games. 2025 & 2026. Our line-up is strong with many returners from the top of last years line-up. We lost some big bats last season's squat but this group has a lot of experience and loves to grind out at bats. The Bulldogs are exited to get back on the field." - Tony Wolden, Head Coach

Overall Summary

Defending 3A state champions Mount Vernon enter the 2026 season as an intriguing follow. Though they lose one of the best players in the country and last summer's first round draft pick of the Houston Astros in INF Xavier Neyens, the Bulldogs also return several key players with championship experience heading into the spring. The senior class is loaded with bats, headlined by Seattle U commit INF Baird Brewer. Brewer, a Prep Baseball Senior Future Games and PNW State Games alum, can play anywhere on the dirt and provides a consistent bat near the top of the order. First baseman and Bellevue College commit Bode Webb is a power threat from the left side of the plate who delivered time after time down the stretch last spring. OF/LHP and Edmonds commit Brady Collins is an athletic CF type with some bat to ball as well, and may be asked to contribute more on the mound in his final season. Elsewhere, junior INF Reece Roberts has been a consistent factor with the bat and is a quality glove to take over at shortstop. Junior arm Connor Swanson is another player who could break out on the mound. A pair of young talents have also impressed at recent Prep Baseball events and could contribute in their underclass years. Freshman RHP/INF Carson Wilms offers physicality and two-way ability, while freshman OF Brigham Jones could play a role as well. Head coach Tony Wolden has scheduled tough early season matchups with Decatur, Jackson and Anacortes to highlight the Bulldog 2026 schedule. Look for Mount Vernon to once again be among the best 3A teams in Washington this year.
