2026 South Dakota High School Team Preview: Garretson

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement is present throughout South Dakota. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across South Dakota.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Sioux Falls or Brooking at the SDHSBA Class A and B State championship games, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across South Dakota.

“The 2026 Garretson Blue Dragons look to take the next step after several rebuilding years - building on momentum of last Spring's season. The Blue Dragons will rely on Senior Leadership from Brecken Weir and Cole Schleuter. On the mound they are excited to have strong starters in Brecken Weir, Brecken Honey, and Jack Adler. Dan Hoskins and Caiden Maack, and Bence Bonte will offer some experienced arms along with newcomers Freshman Colton Buchholz and Chase Costello. Cole Schleuter and Ty Van Halland will bring experience behind the dish. The Blue Dragons look to challenge opposing pitchers with the strong bats and base running of Carter Siemonsma and Jack Adler. Weir, Van Holland, Schleuter and Honey will bring some power to the plate. ” – Kiley Buettner, head coach
