As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Off-Speed Class of 2027

Brody Clasen RHP / 2B / Mulvane, KS / 2027

There aren’t many pitchers who dominated this summer the way Brody Clasen did at Homefield and Creekside, and it ultimately earned him the PBKC Pitcher of the Year award. A 2025 Future Gamer, Clasen thrives with a two-pitch mix: a high-80s fastball that spins well, and a devastating slider that hitters simply can’t square up. His ability to spin the baseball is among the best in his class, and it shows on both pitches, making him extremely difficult to game plan against.

His slider, in particular, is his go-to swing-and-miss weapon. Clasen racked up 55 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings this summer, and the pitch data backs up why. His slider averages 2,300 RPM and shows an average horizontal break of -13 inches with just 1 inch of vertical break. In simple terms, it takes a hard left turn while staying on plane, giving hitters a look that’s both uncomfortable and uncommon. Most sliders and breaking balls show more depth and drop, but Clasen’s has more true side-to-side action, creating a tough angle and an even tougher task for hitters trying to put it in play.
