2026 High School Team Preview: Citizens Christian Academy

Ian Smith
Assistant Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

With one of the deepest returning rosters in all of GIAA baseball, Coach Coram and the Patriots have all of the pieces in place to go back-to-back as 1A State Champions. The 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation is enough to make any head coach happy in senior RHP Blake Bryant and sophomore RHP/MIF Thomas Gentry. The duo is among the top RHP in the state in the respective classes and combined for an outlandish 158 strikeouts in 86 innings. Don’t think it’s bullish to expect even more from the pair this upcoming spring while also holding major roles in the lineup. In the bullpen, look for junior LHP Sam Ables to be the relief ace for the Patriots with a ton of young talent looking to contribute as well. Freshman RHP/1B Clay Phillips will be in-line for big impact this spring as he will compete for a spot in the rotation as well as holding down 1B after hitting .378 with 16 RBI as a middle-schooler on varsity last year. SS Gray McLean is a bonafide leader at the top of the lineup for the Patriots with a high-level glove and speed that controls the game on both sides. The senior and Emmanuel commit led the team in AVG (.468), H (52), 2B (14), SB (41) and will be ready to fill the stat sheet again this spring. Uncommitted senior C Skyler Woods is one of the top returning bats in the lineup, hitting .327 with 27 RBI last spring and offers a quality glove needed to handle the staff that CCA will deploy. Experience across the outfield with seniors Landon Williams and Luke Russ return to quality roles and look for junior Jonah Hall to compete for that third spot after earning experience as a sophomore. Coach Coram will have a chance to develop some talented young pieces to close out this roster including a pair of 2030s in 3B Mason Spivey and C Austin Newmans, who bring intriguing profiles that have a chance to make early impact and push for everyday roles. When you’re looking on paper, it’s hard to look past this roster in GIAA 1A and I’d be looking for a expectations to be quite high in Douglas this spring.
