2027 National Rankings Spotlight: Ira Hilbelink

Wisconsin prospects have continued to gain national recognition in recent years. Following last month’s rankings update, 12 players from the Badger State 2027 class earned spots inside the national top-500. Today, we highlight the highest-ranked outfielder of the group, Ira Hilbelink (Cedar Grove-Belgium, 2027).

Currently the top uncommitted prospect in the state's junior class, Hilbelink represented Wisconsin at the 2025 Future Games this past summer at LakePoint in Georgia. The outfielder is ranked No. 4 in the state's 2027 class, No. 279 nationally, and the No. 57 ranked outfielder in the nation.

7/31/25

Future Games 2025: OF/RHP Ira Hilbelink (Cedar Grove-Belgium) put on about as strong of an all-round performance as you are going to see from anyone throughout the week. Currently ranked No. 5 in the 2027 class, Hilbelink stands in at a strong and athletic 5-foot-11, 195-pounds. The two-way talent produced a 7.03 60-time and showed off the arm with a 93 mph OF velo. At the plate, Hilbelink put together one of the most impressive rounds amongst all of the Future Game attendees. Hilbelink had a max EV of 103.3 mph, but his 99.4 average EV put him fifth among all Future Games throughout the week. He has quick hands through the zone that produces consistent hard contact with a simple approach at the plate and no wasted movement. Hilbelink had two multi-hit games throughout gameplay, going 4-for-9 with a double, home run, and two RBIs across his three games played at the plate. On the mound, Hilbelink worked a fastball/slider combo. His fastball stayed in the 86-88 mph range, topping out at 89.7 mph. His slider is a quality offering, staying in the low-70s and was up to 2,496 rpms.

+ OF/RHP Ira Hilbelink (Cedar-Grove Belgium, 2027) is a top ranked two-way player in the state for the 2027 class and his performance during yesterday’s showcase showed exactly why on the position player side. Hilbelink is a strong and explosive athlete who ran a 7.03 second 60 yard dash whose speed definitely plays up in game. His simple and explosive swing was on display during his round. He’s got tremendous feel for the barrel with a handsy swing from the right side and was hitting rockets through the big part of the field. His 103.3 mph max exit velocity and 95.6 mph average exit velocity were top marks for Wisconsin’s position player group. During defense, Hilbelink unleashed throws reaching 93 mph from the outfield and his arm strength carries over to the mound where he will perform as a right-handed pitcher later in the week.

Uncommitted, a rising player in the state’s sophomore class, one of the top players in the region with real two-way upside, athletic with strength, standing at 5-foot-11, 188 pounds. Hilbelink started on the mound and struck out 11 batters across five innings, allowing two runs and walking four. Athletic mover on the mound with an easy and controlled delivery. The arm action stands out, clean, low effort with whip throwing each pitch out of the same window. Hilbelink ran his fastball up to 89 mph, sitting 85-88 mph with life out of the hand, spinning a sharp and big breaking ball in the low-70s earning swing and miss in and out of the zone. Flashing a running changeup that he would throw to both handed batters, sitting 79-81 mph.

+ OF/RHP Ira Hilbelink (Cedar Grove-Belgium, 2027) showcases an athletic and strong 5-foot-11, 188-pound frame. At the plate, the right-hander takes a natural and controlled path through the baseball, finding the barrel consistently with ease. Feel to elevate was evident as was the impact, averaging 91.7 mph reaching a peak of 99.5 mph on the round. On the mound, his fastball topped 90 mph. He features heavy spin on his curveball with fell for the zone, and his changeup played with heavy fading action. He operates with a quick tempo and a powerful, explosive lower half.
