TEAM OUTLOOK
On the heels of a state championship in 2024, the Eagles posted a back-to-back 30-win season last year but a final-four loss left some added motivation heading into this spring. Now, one of the most talented rosters in the state returns with the understanding of the pressure and expectations to get it done at the highest level. Each returning starter for the Eagles posted a .400 OBP or better last year, and it starts with one of the most dynamic players in the country in senior OF Trevor Condon. The Tennessee commit led or tied the Eagles in H, 3B, HR, R and SB while bringing an infectious, “hair-on-fire” personality that fuels this team with energy. Senior SS Deion Cole has put together one of the best offensive careers in Etowah history and after double-digit 2B/SB last spring, brings a premium power/speed combo to the lineup. RHP/1B Matthew Sharman rounds out a special senior trio as the unquestioned ace of the rotation with premium swing-and-miss stuff that gives this team confidence every time he steps on the mound. Not to mention, the Georgia commit is a bonafide weapon in the 3 hole, hitting .467 last spring with 14 XBH and leading the Eagles in OBP. Junior C Caden Borcherding continues the elite talent for this club as the top player in Georgia’s 2027 class with an all-around profile that has grown at a rapid rate and provides impact in nearly every single facet. Another junior in RHP/INF Nate Curcio has a chance to be a very important piece to this year’s success as he steps into a rotation role as well as an everyday lock in the infield. Twitch throughout the profile with success on big stages that will be beneficial heading into the spring. Sophomore INF Colin Anderson is not your average sophomore with top-of-the-class power that showed throughout last spring with a 1.000+ OPS, 8 HR and will be poised for even more in year two. For the immense high-end talent the Eagles possess, the depth will be equally important and a pair of senior LHP in Brady Colton and Zane Ledford will be at the forefront as options to provide value in the bullpen and potentially in the rotation. Senior OF Carson Moore is a reliable option in the outfield and juniors INF Jude Stresing, C/OF Walker May is even more depth who can profile at multiple positions. This senior group and the Eagles overall have the pieces in place to make the final-four for the 4th straight year with the motivation to end things the right way.
