Overall Summary
Tahoma enters 2026 as a team expected to take a step foward from their district playoff finish a season ago. Though they've faced some middling results in recent years, few teams offer the talent of Tahoma, particularly on the mound. Senior LHP and Oregon State commit Neal Burtis was a big riser last year and returns as the innings leader on the mound. Burtis can dominate any lineup at his best with a fastball into the low 90's, and should provide an option in the outfield or at first base as well. Junior Washington commit Talon Coker was exceptional with Team PNW at last summer's Future Games in Georgia and is a high-ceiling arm. Another standout in Georgia last summer was New Mexico State commit Beckett Turnbow, who can be an electric back-end arm into the low 90's and a sound shortstop/top of the lineup presence with power as a position player. Turnbow, alongside junior INF Trey Davies, should form one of the better middle infield duos in the state. Davies hit .326 in his sophomore campaign in extended run. The offense will once again be the key to success for the Bears. Senior OF and Northwest Nazarene commit Timmy McEwen impressed in a showcase look last summer and could see a larger role this year. Senior Lucas Post and Future Game alum junior Grayson Turnbow are other returners who saw some success last spring. Senior Sean Evans has tools galore and can impact the game in numerous ways when right, while arms such as Brayden Fenton, Kyson Chamberlin, and Jasper Sarkany will all contribute as well. Head coach Jayke Chavez is circling early season matchups with Union, Skyline and Kennedy Catholic as games to watch. Look for the Bears to lean on their experience and pitching to have a strong 2026.
