2026 OUTLOOK
+ Regents School of Oxford enters the 2026 season coming off a solid 20–10 campaign, one that showed steady growth and established a foundation for the future under head coach Wyatt Short. Competing in MAIS 2A, the Lions may be young, but the roster is filled with underclassmen who already have meaningful varsity experience and project as impact pieces moving forward.
Offensively, Regents returns a small but intriguing group of positional starters. Behind the plate, Henry Edwards (2027) provides stability at catcher, handling the pitching staff while continuing to develop as an offensive contributor. His presence gives the Lions reliability in the middle of the diamond and leadership for a young roster. In the outfield, Hayes Leach (2029) brings athleticism and upside despite his age, flashing the tools to impact the game in multiple ways as he continues to gain varsity reps.
In the infield, Jayce Wright (2029) stands out as one of the program’s key building blocks. Wright’s ability to contribute on both sides of the ball makes him a cornerstone piece, anchoring the infield defensively while continuing to grow into his offensive profile. His versatility allows Regents flexibility with lineup construction as the season progresses.
On the mound, the Lions lean heavily on a youthful but promising pitching group. Wright also factors into the rotation, giving Regents a reliable option with experience beyond his years. Andrew Shell (2029) adds another developing arm capable of handling innings, while Luke Correnti (2030) brings long-term upside as one of the youngest contributors on the roster. The collective growth of this pitching staff will be a major factor in Regents’ ability to compete within District 1.
Beyond the primary contributors, Will Jones (2027) is another name to monitor as he continues to develop and potentially carve out a larger role. The underclassman group, including Sutton Gore, Leach, Wright, Shell, and Correnti highlights the youth movement within the program and speaks to the long-term trajectory of Regents baseball.
While the Lions may lean young in 2026, the experience gained from last season’s 20-win campaign provides valuable momentum. If the underclassmen continue to take steps forward and the pitching staff provides consistency, Regents School of Oxford has the pieces in place to remain competitive in MAIS 2A while building toward sustained success in the coming years.
