2026 Prep Baseball Iowa Preseason ID - Eastern Iowa: Event Preview

Monticello, Iowa - On Sunday, February 8th, Prep Baseball Iowa travels to Eastern Iowa Sports Facility in Monticello to host the Preseason ID- Eastern Iowa. The events will feature over 30 prospects from the class of 2026 through 2029. This collection of players will include plenty of fresh faces as well as returning faces.

Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise.

EVENT HISTORY

Last year's Preseason ID-Eastern Iowa saw 31 players with notable performances from these three players.

Landen Whitaker (Oelwein, 2026, Cornell College) impressed with his athleticism, posting a 4.12 30-yard dash and showing arm strength with 80 mph throws across the diamond. At the plate, Whitaker registered an 89.1 mph max exit velocity with a 342-foot max distance. Later in the year, he earned an invite to the Iowa State Games, where he ran a 7.23 60-yard dash and continued to trend upward offensively, boosting his average exit velocity by nearly 6 mph to 84.6 mph.

Porter Chatman (Mount Vernon, 2027, Uncommited) showed a balanced stance at the plate, consistently barreling balls with a max exit velocity of 87.7 mph. Defensively, Chatman impressed with a 71 mph throw across the infield. His performance earned him an invitation to the Iowa State Games, where he continued to improve across the board, increasing his arm strength to 77 mph across the infield and posting a 7.17-second 60-yard dash.

Conlan Panther (North Scott, 2028, Uncommited) impressed on the mound with a clean arm action, running his fastball up to 79.4 mph while pairing it with a sharp 70 mph changeup. At the plate, Panther showed strong bat-to-ball skills, posting a 91.1 mph max exit velocity with a 338-foot max distance. The uncommitted sophomore will look to continue trending upward at the 2026 Preseason All-State on March 8th.
