2026 Prep Baseball Minnesota Preseason All-State: Record Breakers?
March 12, 2026
We recently dug into the Preseason All-State archives to check out the statistical leaders from the past decade—what Rob Allison calls the Catalina Wine Mixer of Iowa showcases.
Over the years, the way we collect data has changed dramatically. Early on, exit velocity and pitching velocity were tracked with a Stalker radar gun and a batting tee. Today, multiple Trackman units capture detailed metrics on every pitch and batted ball.
Our batting practice setup has also evolved. Overhand toss BP has been replaced with Hack Attack Juniors, which provide firmer, more game-like rounds. Last year marked the first time we implemented that change.
The event has come a long way and will continue to evolve with new technology. The goal remains the same: give players access to advanced metrics using the best tools available. Still, the game is played on the field. The numbers help scouts and college coaches identify players to follow, but performance in games ultimately matters most.
Now, let’s take a look at the all-time leaders in the main categories and see who on the 2026 Preseason All-State roster could be climbing the leaderboards.
60-Yard Dash Leader: Carson Hart – 6.43
Carson Hart flew last year. The Mankato East speedster would land a spot on our Senior Future Games team and eventually commit to Creighton.
Who are some of this year's participants that might be able to top that? Cretin-Derham Hall's Isaac Feller ran a 6.53 at our Fall ID last October. He's certainly a blazer. Mahtomedi's Isaac Iten is another fast Isaac, owner of a 6.61 at the same event from the fall.
Other potential burners and their top 60 times in 2025:
+ Cooper Hanson (Elk River) - 6.68
+ Lincoln Page (Edina) - 6.71
+ Gavin Griffin (Perham) - 6.76
+ Leo Giwa (Providence Academy) - 6.78
Infield Velo Leader: Max Arlich – 94 MPH
East Ridge's Max Arlich ripped a few 94 mile per hour darts across the infield as a first baseman at the 2022 Preseason All-State. Arlich, who moved to the mound full-time, clearly has a strong arm.
The top candidates to overtake Arlich in this year's crop includes Centennial's Cooper Sanders, another power arm on the mound, who threw 92 at the Super Sophomore Games in August and Benilde-St. Margerat's Oscar Waisanen who was 91 at our Fall ID in October.
Other names to consider:
+ Henry Semans (Blaine) - 88
+ Lincoln Page (Edina) - 86
+ Cade Hamilton (East Ridge) - 86
+ Griffin Rowan (Stilwater) - 86
Outfield Velo Leaders: Carter Storts & Donovan Vendel – 97 MPH
Both Storts and Vendal achieved the record at last year's event. Both players are ranked in the Top 35 in the class and both are headed for South Dakota for college ball (Augustana and USF, respectively).
Among those who might be in consideration to own that record is Wayzata's Alexander Kakach. Kakach was on Team Minnesota as a pitcher but he threw 91 at the Preseason All-State last year. Similarly, Zimmerman's Eli Martin, an uncommitted outfielder, threw 91 at our Fall ID.
Other outfield arms to watch:
+ Jimmy Dahlen (Southwest Christian) - 90
+ Alex Asmus (Morris) - 89
Catcher Velo Leader: Kaden Amundson – 85 MPH
St. Michael-Albertville's Amundson unleashed the 85 down to two at our 2021 Preseason All-State. Most recently Nick Bowron came close at 83 but there hasn't been much in the way of anyone competiting with this arm strength.
Mankato West's Emmitt Rentas, a 2028 and Super Sophomore Games alum, is likely the frontrunner among this year's backstops. He threw 82 last year. Edina's Lincoln Page is another strong-armed, multi-positioned athlete, and member of the Super Sophomore team. He peeled off an 81.
Other names to consider based on their top velo from a year ago:
+ Brady Keane (Totino-Grace) - 80
+ Dylan Lindstrom (Hopkins) - 79
Trackman Max Exit Velo Leader: Max Arlich – 105.2 MPH
Arlich once again is atop a leaderboard, proving that the big man could rotate into a baseball.
Leading candidates to top that based on last year's numbers are Eli Martin and East Ridge's Cade Hamilton, both of whom registered exit velos in the 103s at the Fall ID in October. Big Lake's Caleb Martin and Blaine's Henry Semans both reached 102 in 2025 as well. Anyone in this group has the potential to get to that 105.2 MPH or greater after an offseason of work.
Other names to watch:
+ Beau Cazin (Blaine) - 101.5
+ Koltin Kolbinger (Mankato East) - 101.1
+ Miles Tomaszewski (Cleveland) - 100.9
+ Mat Matejka (Dover-Eyota) - 100.6
+ Isaac Feller (Cretin-Derham Hall) - 100.6
Trackman Max Fastball Velo Leader: Jake Reigert – 92.7 MPH
East Ridge's Jake Reigert was at 92.7 at the 2023 Preseason All-State. We're seeing plenty of hard-throwers in Minnesota so it wouldn't be surprising if we see someone eclipse that mark this year.
Arms that may have a chance to do so include Becker's Ethyn Cantin, who was at 91.6 MPH at our Fall ID last October, Cooper Sanders, who was at 91.0 MPH at the Super Sophomore Games, and Wayzata's Alexander Kakach, a Creighton commit, who was 90.6 MPH at the Future Games in Atlanta last summer.
With the state of the pitching industry in Minnesota, don't be shocked if someone not on the cusp makes big strides heading into the spring as well.
Other arms to monitor:
+ Nicholas Krautkremer (Wayzata) - 89.1
+ Jackson Kolb (White Bear Lake) - 88.9
