The 2026 Tennessee high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the state tournament championships – but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Tennessee. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Maryville enters the 2026 season coming off a 22–17 campaign in Class 4A, returning a veteran core with college commitments and postseason experience as head coach Jason Lambert looks to build on last spring’s momentum in District 2.

The Rebels’ lineup is anchored by a strong group of upperclassmen, led by Cohen Babelay (2026, Tennessee Tech), a former Prep Baseball Future Gamer who brings a polished offensive approach and steady defensive presence. Gavin DiBartolomeo (2026, Tennessee-Martin) adds another experienced bat to the middle of the order, while Tripp Everett (2026, Pellissippi State CC) provides impact on both sides of the ball, contributing offensively and serving as a key piece of the pitching staff. Ben Dockery (2027) continues to develop into an everyday contributor, and Tallen VanOrtwick (2028) represents a high-upside underclass presence already pushing for consistent varsity at-bats.

On the mound, Maryville will lean heavily on Everett to set the tone, with Carson Shepherd and Dockery rounding out a returning group of arms capable of handling meaningful innings. That trio gives the Rebels a dependable foundation, while continued development of depth behind them will be a major factor as the season progresses.

Additional names to follow include Luke Owens, Brenton Campbell, and Gavin Craig in the 2027 class, each providing added depth and competition across the roster. The next wave of talent is already making its presence felt as well, with VanOrtwick joined by Sanders Feather, Deizel Phillips, and Brody Ketron as impact underclassmen who bring athleticism and long-term upside to the program.

With multiple college commits, a former Future Gamer at the center of the lineup, and returning arms with varsity experience, Maryville enters 2026 with a balanced roster built to compete in District 2. If the Rebels continue to get consistent production from their core while integrating their younger pieces, they have the makeup of a club capable of taking another step forward in Class 4A this spring.
