Thursday

Landmark Christian @ King’s Ridge

Score: King’s Ridge win, 3-0

Standouts:

Chip Glogorski, C, 2026, King’s Ridge

Spencer Wood, RHP, 2026, King’s Ridge

Taylor Casson, OF/RHP, 2026, Landmark Christian

Key moments:
The Tigers put a run on the board due to an early error. Later in the game King’s Ridge sparked a two-out rally as Chip Glogorski and Jack Brantner added singles and would come around to score on more defensive miscues making it 3-0. Spencer Wood went the distance and held the Landmark offense in check as he didn’t allow a run.

Avery’s Takeaway: King’s Ridge continues to stake their claim as one of the top teams in the state as they remain undefeated. The Tigers bat were relatively quiet against a potent opposing arm talent, but they were able to scratch and claw their way to 3-runs. Spencer Wood did a fantastic job of limiting hard contact and limiting baserunners as he went the distance in a complete game shutout. This was only Landmark’s second loss of the year as they look to bounce back and clean up the defensive miscues with a talented core leading the way.

North Murray @ Sonoraville

Score: Sonoraville win, 11-0

Standouts:

Griffin Long, RHP, 2026, Sonoraville

Eli Balliew, OF, 2026, Sonoraville

Weston Clements, SS, 2027, Sonoraville

Tate Broom, C/OF, 2029, Sonoraville

Key Moments: Loud first-inning from Griffin Long really laid the foundation for a big win, as he struck out the side on 10 pitches while running it up to 95 multiple times in the inning. Weston Clements would set the tone for his big offensive night early with an RBI 2B in the 1st and would end up going 3-for-3 while adding a 3B and 5 RBI. Eli Balliew is the engine that makes this lineup go and that was on display with 3 hits out of the leadoff spot, falling a HR short of the cycle.

Ian’s Takeaway: Griffin Long starts are quickly becoming must-see TV for pro area scouts, and Thursday was yet another outing to build the stock. The former Future Gamer and Kennesaw State commit was dominant from the start, sitting 91-94 while running it up to 95 early with explosive life through the zone that generated whiffs throughout. SL is consistently effective at 76-79 but the changeup is beginning to show as a present plus pitch often. 82-85 with advanced feel and ability to kill spin with arm-side fade that disappears from barrels. The top half of the lineup for Sonoraville has the ability to put up big numbers often with the bat-to-ball skills at the top from Eli Balliew and Tate Broom, who seem to be on-base every time you look up. Weston Clements is coming into his own in the middle of the lineup, and Thursday was a good display of the impact he can bring at times.

Loganville @ Buford

Score: 5-4, Loganville wins
Standouts:
Brantley Carter, 2B, 2026, Loganville
Zac Cuneio, OF, 2027, Loganville

Vance Bock, C, 2026, Buford

Lio Garcia, SS, 2028, Buford

Key Moments:
This was a highly anticipated Power 25 match up from 2 very different teams in Loganville and Buford. Both offenses have been producing a lot of runs as of late, and last night was no different in a back and forth contest. Devon Nixon gave the Red Devils the early lead in the 2nd, but the Wolves would fight back in the bottom half, putting up 3 runs. Ian Chafin had a quiet, but successful night with a hustle 1B that tied the game at 1-1, then he made multiple run saving plays in the field, including a diving play up the middle to get the lead out at 2B. From there the teams would go back and forth then Brantley Carter came up big with a 3B to left to make it a 4-3 game in the 5th. The Wolves would fight back in the bottom half and Vance Bock delivered a 1B to tie the game at 4-4. Kyle Krause came up with a shutdown inning in the 6th to send it to the 7th tied. Zac Cuneio had the biggest swing of the night to leadoff the 7th inning with a double to left center. Tripp Sapp then worked a deep count and would get him over to 3B on a backside ground ball. Cuneio would then score on a passed ball to take the lead at 5-4. The Wolves had their chance in the bottom of the 7th after Ryan Johansen had a leadoff walk and would get to 2B on a balk. Kayden Quiros was excellent out of the pen for the Red Devils and would buckle down in the bottom half to clinch the 5-4 on a strikeout with the tying run on 2B.

Huddy’s Takeaways:
It was good to get to see both these teams square to see where they stack up in the Power 25. Buford’s line up is strong 1-9 and are deeper than I thought on the mound even without Dexter McCleon Jr. I got a chance to see Walker Taulbee in a brief relief appearance and he has ticked up since we last saw him. He has been one of their more consistent arms alongside Carson Reeves, Kyle Krause and Ayden Lockett. The Wolves should continue to take care of business in region play with a top seed headed into the playoffs. As we have said many times before, Loganville will be Loganville. They are going to throw strikes, make the routine plays, and capitalize on mistakes when given. They have a line up full of hitters that work deep AB’s and make the opposing pitchers really work. Jeremiah Reiss will continue to be a big piece for them on the mound and with Jake Boland and Tripp Sapp leading the rotation in region play. They have some big non-region match ups down the road, but keep an eye on that Habersham Central series, those are 2 very similar teams that are scrappy and play baseball the right way.

Tuesday

North Hall @ Pickens

Score: Pickens win, 5-3

Standouts:

Everett Grubbs, RHP/3B, Pickens, 2027

Boogie Lowit, 1B, Pickens, 2027

Kam Jenkins, C, Pickens, 2026

Jennings Allen, SS, Pickens, 2027

Truitt Grubbs, OF, Pickens, 2028

Branson Crawford, C/RHP, North Hall, 2026

Key moments: Branson Crawford led off the game and jumped on the first pitch he saw for a no-doubt lead-off home run putting the Trojans up early. Pickens answered back in the 2nd inning as Truitt Grubbs got the bats rolling followed by a huge double from Brock Teal along with an 2 RBI base-hit from Kam Jenkins and an RBI single from Boogie Lowit. As the Dragons led the Trojans 5-1 after 2-innings. Crawford added another RBI hit as the Trojans scratched across 2-runs in the 3rd and cut the deficit to 5-3. The backend of the Dragons bullpen held the Trojans in check resulting in a final of 5-3.

Avery’s Takeaway: This series is always one of the most anticipated of the year and it very well lived up to the hype in Game 1. Pickens has shown that 1-9 is extremely scrappy over the course of the Spring as they battled against a strong opposing arm to set the tone. 2-hit performances from Truitt Grubbs, Boogie Lowit, and Jennings Allen paced the offense while Kam Jenkins and Everett Grubbs picked up knocks as well. Robert Turner and Everett Grubbs showed well out of the pen as they held the Trojans scoreless across 4.0 IP. A couple of pieces in the North Hall lineup showed well including Thomas Davis, Smith McGarvey, Kenny Foudy, Josh Bolton, Jayzen Johnson, and Branson Crawford as they look to take the next two games and claim the series victory. Both of these teams are at the top of the pool in 3A and will certainly be ones we see later in the Spring.

Central @ Heard County

Score:
18-5, Central wins

Standouts:
Grayson Parker, INF, 2029, Central

Bradyn Grimaldi, 1B, 2026, Central

Trent Harrison, RHP, 2028, Central

Brody Cofield, OF, 2027, Heard County

Key Moments:
It was a pitching duel for 2 innings with both arms nearly going 6 up 6 down. Trent Harrison struck out for 4 in 2 innings for Central. The Lions offense got rolling in the 3rd after a couple free bases by Heard County, senior Bradyn Grimaldi delivered a double to give them the lead early. Sophomore Asher Allen followed him up with a near home run that ended up being a double off the wall. Brady Willingham and Grayson Parker would both single to give them the 4-0 lead. Harrison was going for another shutdown inning, but the Braves got a spark with 2 outs from a Max Lasseter double. River White would also single to make it a 4-3 game. It appeared the Braves were headed to the pen after the 3rd, but Gunner Copeland came back out and struck out the side in the 4th. The Lions offense would get back going in the 5th from a Grant Chaffin double where it would steal 3rd and score on the very next pitch. From there the offense exploded, capitalizing on mistakes. Warren Hawkesworth would come on in the 5th and get 1 out then close it out in the 6th for the 18-5 win in the West Georgia Showdown.

Huddy’s Takeaways:
I can’t believe it took us this long to get out to see the Central Lions, but as always the line up performed. The sophomore hitting trio we have been following since 14u performed well. Grant Chaffin, Asher Allen and Bradley Willingham are all 2 year starters that have the gamer gene that always stands out in game. It is always fun to see Trent Harrison compete on the mound. He found ways to get outs after giving up the 3 spot and gave the offense time to get back going. Grayson Parker is a new name we will have circled after a 3 for 3 performance from the freshman. Brody Cofield looked good for Heard County with obvious athleticism that stands out. We will be checking back in on the Lions next week as they had their biggest test of the year so far in a region match up with Harris County.

McEachern @ Hillgrove

Score: McEachern win, 5-3

Standouts:

Chubb Jones Jr., RHP/3B, 2027, McEachern

Jaxston Brown, OF, 2027, McEachern

Shane Jelenevsky, RHP, 2026, Hillgrove

Malachi Butler, SS, 2027, McEachern

Key Moments: The high-level pitching from Chubb Jones Jr. and Shane Jelenevsky was on display early before the Hawks brought in the opening run on a dropped third strike after Chase Hicks opened the inning with a ringing backside 2B. Adrien Islas would push across the tying run in the 4th before a couple mental errors lead to a Donavan Dortch bloop 1B in the bottom half that would score two. Lead didn’t last long after 3 straight hits in the 5th culminating with a Jaxston Brown 2B to give McEachern the lead and they didn’t look back.

Ian’s Takeaway: Huge program win for Coach Autry and the Indians for their first win at Hillgrove since 2013, and it starts with the pure electricity on the mound from Chubb Jones Jr. 14 K with 20+ whiffs in the CG win while showing well at the plate with 2 hits and an overall ability to flip a switch. The Clemson commit would strike out 5 of the last 6 to shut the door, touching 96 and showing two future plus secondaries. The Malachi Butler stock continues to rise this spring as the hit tool is showing extremely well and starting to take the profile towards its ceiling sooner than later. The addition of Jaxston Brown is leading to immediate impact for McEachern, bringing speed and bat-to-ball skills that provide value always. On the other side, another addition in Shane Jelenevsky gives Hillgrove frontline star Myers who shows the durability and stuff to handle big innings in a tough region. Veteran lineup was ready to handle velocity for the Hawks and has a chance to build off this outing regardless of the result. This series is nowhere near over and will be full of energy as they move to McEachern for the DH later on this week.
