LV Preseason ID - Session 2: Quick Hits
January 29, 2026
Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Preseason ID, one of the premier events on the Prep Baseball calendar, was held on Wednesday, January 28 at Bishop Gorman High School. The one-day showcase brought together a talented group of prospects from the 2026–2030 classes, each looking to establish an early evaluation heading into the spring season.
Participants took part in a pro-style workout that included batting practice tracked by TrackMan and Blast Motion, 60-yard dash testing powered by VALD Performance, and a full defensive evaluation. Pitchers threw bullpens tracked by TrackMan, allowing our staff to capture detailed metrics including pitch velocity, spin rate, and horizontal and vertical movement.
We begin our Post Event Coverage of the Las Vegas Preseason ID - Session 2 with the Quick Hits, highlgihting the players who made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff.
Michael Alvarado SS / 2B / Sierra Vista, NV / 2026Arguably the biggest winner of the Las Vegas Preseason ID was senior Sierra Vista shortstop, Michael Alvarado. Putting up multiple personal bests on the offensive side of the ball, the progression in his game on both sides of the ball is obvious and we expect his game to only continue trending. The improved, fluid actions at shortstop, to go with improved range where he showed comfort in both the forehand and backhand plays, has Alvarado primed for a big Senior Spring. Getting his event started with an event best 6.86 VALD 60 Time, he continued that into his defensive workout where he put up the event’s 2nd best Infield Velocity at 86 mph. Then at the plate, he put together a line drive filled BP Session that showed off his ability to use the big part of the yard with flashes of power to the 100.3 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity and 92.1 mph Average Exit Velocity. |

Steven Alvarado 1B / OF / Foothill, NV / 2026The Prep Baseball Verified 6’3/171.5 unsigned Senior put together arguably the most impressive batting practice session of the Las Vegas Preseason ID - Session 2, leaving the yard multiple times with his power tool on full display as he hit multiple balls into the night at a difficult field to hit it out to right, especially on a brisk night. His day didn’t stop at 102.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity, Alvarado improved on almost every metric category that applied to him and their is still plenty of room to add more size and strength. The Foothill product should be on more than a few college boards, especially after his performance last night as a power hitting, left-handed bat with elite bat speed. |
Blake Bedard 3B / RHP / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2029Bedard is a 2029 that continues to impress each time out with us. His advanced feel for the barrel with projected power to be added to his already impressive offensive metrics. The Top Tier Las Vegas product improved in an number of offensive categories, including TrackMan Exit Velocity at 97.9 mph as well as an 88.4 mph Average Exit Velocity. Now standing at 6’0/182.8 and growing, the freshman is only scratching the surface of what’s to come over the next few years. |
Carter Brunson LHP / OF / Liberty, NV / 2026An Under the Radar player that made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff was Liberty product, Carter Brunson. The Senior improved almost every metric with his added size and strength amplifying each part of his game and seems to still just be scratching the surface of what’s to come. The senior left the yard multiple times during his BP Session at a field that plays big to RF, especially on a brisk night like last night. His 100.3 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity, along with his 87.7 mph Average Trackman Exit Velocity showed he has feel for the barrel with even more to come as he added even more strength to his improved, physical frame. |
Leighton Canarelli OF / RHP / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2028Canarelli came into the Las Vegas Preseason ID after a standout performance at both the Super Sophomore Games and the Las Vegas Fall ID, and he continued to show progression in his game with added maturity in his approach at the plate. Still wiry in his build, the power was on display as he put up a new personal best 100.4 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity as well as a 91.1 mph Average Exit Velocity, that proves his ability to consistently find the barrel with authority. He continued his standout performance into the pitching portion of the event, where he ran his fastball up to 85.5 mph on a brisk night, commanding it in the zone with an 83% strike percentage. His curveball also showed tighter action, working well off his fastball with an event best spin rate of 2497 rpm. Canarelli is the type of player that will find a way to make an impact with the stacked Faith Lutheran lineup this Spring whether its in the OF or on the mound, you can expect this 2028 to make his mark this High School season. |
Jameson Day SS / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2028Another player we had circled to track their progress at the Las Vegas Preseason ID was MTBA/Faith Lutheran product, Jameson Day. Already putting up impressive offensive metrics at the MTBA Spring Evaluations with a 95.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity, last night he shined on the defensive side of the ball, putting up an Event Best 90 mph Infield Velocity with confident, advanced actions on any play we threw at him with his footwork being one of the key separators to keep him fluid through the fielding process. The lateral range will only continue to trend as he improves his footspeed, but this will be a player you can expect to continue making his case to jump into Nevada’s Top 10 for the 2028 Class Rankings. |

The Lake Mead Christian Academy product left the yard multiple times throughout his Session with his present, pull side power on full display. The two-way adds even more depth to an already deep Nevada Freshman Class and you can expect his game to only continue trending over the next few years with even more power projected come from his 5’11/186 and growing frame. |

Rian Jaime SS / 2B / Las Vegas, NV / 2026One of the players we had circled to see how his game would continue to progress from this past year was Las Vegas product, Rian Jaime. His day didn’t stop there as he put up new personal bests in both the infield (82 mph) and outfield (85 mph), with much more to come as he continues to add strength to his frame, especially in the lower half. |
Jaxson Mcmullin 3B / RHP / Foothill, NV / 2029Another 2029 that adds to an already deep 2029 Class, McMullin has all the makings of a player that we expect to continue taking steps in his game that will make him a player you are going to want to know over the next few years. His 95.3 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity ranked him towards the top of all freshman at the Las Vegas Preseason ID, but on the mound is where he shined, with his fastball running up to 84.2 mph on a brisk night after carrying out his Infield Workout just prior, leading you to believe that there is already more in the tank beyond what was on display last night. The actions are there and with a lean 6’2 and growing frame, you can believe that McMullin is just starting to scratch the surface of whats to come. |
