Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2026 Player of the Year Watchlist

Prep Baseball Louisiana Staff

It may be early, but a handful of names have already begun to separate themselves in the race for the 2026 Louisiana Player of the Year. Catholic High has owned the award in recent seasons, with William Schmidt capturing it in 2024 and Andrew Clapinski following in 2025, and this year’s class looks just as loaded. Five players currently headline the watch list — four accomplished seniors with proven track records and one dynamic rising junior capable of taking over a game in multiple ways. Even beyond that top tier, a deep group of high-end talents sits right on their heels, all firmly in the mix as legitimate contenders for the state’s top individual honor.

Be sure to stay tuned for more preseason coverage in the coming days and weeks, including our full slate of team previews, team rankings, and much more as we gear up for another exciting spring across Louisiana.
