Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2026 high school baseball season is right around the corner, and as always, excitement is building across the Bayou State. Programs from every corner of Louisiana have been hard at work this offseason—honing skills, building chemistry, and setting their sights on a return trip to Sulphur for the LHSAA State Championships. As is tradition, the state is once again loaded with talent, from seasoned veterans to rising underclassmen ready to make their mark.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll take an in-depth look at teams from every region as part of our comprehensive season preview series. These previews will lead right up to Opening Day, followed by the release of our Power 25 Rankings and the return of our always-popular Game of the Week feature.

Throughout the spring, Prep Baseball Louisiana will continue to be your one-stop source for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Be sure to check back weekly for our Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, updated Power 25 Rankings, and plenty of additional coverage highlighting the stories, performances, and programs that make Louisiana baseball special.

*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.  If you have not received a questionnaire and would like to fill one out, please email State Director Alex Armand at [email protected]

Team Preview

The 2026 season ushers in a new era for Loreauville Baseball with first-year Head Coach Tyler Mathis taking the reins after serving as an assistant at powerhouse Barbe High School. While experience is limited, the Tigers are built on pitching depth, athleticism, and an aggressive identity that aims to apply pressure in all phases of the game.

Team Strengths

-Pitching Depth: Multiple arms with upside headline a staff capable of matching up night-to-night.

-Athleticism & Speed: Range on defense and impact runners who can change games on the bases.

Team Weakness

-Experience: Several key contributors are stepping into larger varsity roles, making early-season growth and consistency critical.

Top Returning Players

-Senior CF Blake Delcambre

A dynamic table-setter with elite speed and on-base ability. Delcambre hit .368 with a .474 OBP, scored 34 runs, and stole 32 bases, anchoring the offense and defense up the middle.

-Senior C J.D. Judice

Physical presence behind the plate with strong plate discipline. Judice drove in 21 runs, collected 7 doubles, and posted a .410 OBP, while providing toughness and leadership defensively.

-Senior LHP/1B/OF Austen Guilbeau

Proven left-handed arm with versatility. Guilbeau logged 49.1 IP with a 3.26 ERA and 46 K, holding opponents to a .200 BAA.

Additional Seniors Ready to Make an Impact

-Senior RHP Andrew Lopez

Back injury limited him to 5.2 IP last spring, but he struck out 10 and showed late-inning aptitude. With cleaner mechanics and a fastball now mid-to-high 80s, Lopez projects as a top-end rotation piece with advanced feel for offspeed.

-Senior SS Jacob Ransonet

Transitioned from second base to shortstop, showing improved arm strength, mobility, and leadership. Offensive strides this preseason suggest a breakout year.

-Senior 1B/DH Tucker Louviere

Big, strong bat with emerging power. Improved swing mechanics have translated to louder contact early.=

-Senior 3B/OF Alex Huval

Physical right-handed hitter with gap power to the opposite field. Has looked comfortable defensively at both third base and right field.

Juniors to Watch

-Junior 2B Wyatt Hazelwood

Limited to spot duty last year, but his athleticism, refined bat path, and instincts on the bases point to an offensive uptick.

-Junior RHP/3B Jacob Theodile

Tall, lanky right-hander with a low-80s fastball, plus curveball, usable changeup, and strike-throwing ability. Simplified swing has improved his offensive profile.

-Junior OF Kadyn James

Elite athlete and WR1 in football. Still raw, but swing improvements and natural tools make him a dark-horse impact player.

Underclassmen to Keep an Eye On

-Sophomore INF/RHP Karsyn Crochet

Coming off a shoulder injury that has delayed mound work, but shows advanced bat-to-ball skills with consistent backspin. Could factor in at first base.

-Sophomore RHP/INF Peyton Meche

Has already flashed mid-80s velocity with a sharp breaking ball and kick changeup. Grinder at the plate with defensive versatility across the infield.

-Sophomore UTL Colton Ransonet

Left-handed hitter with improved swing mechanics and the ability to play multiple positions, including catcher and first base.

-Freshman RHP/UTL Payton Foti

Competitive arm with mid-to-high 70s velocity, three-pitch command, and a strong physical frame that projects well.

-Freshman RHP/SS Asa Romero

Toolsy, athletic defender who has held his own at varsity shortstop. On the mound, flashes high ceiling traits with more refinement to come.

Outlook

This group may lack extensive varsity experience, but it is rich in upside, athleticism, and competitiveness. The Tigers plan to play fast and aggressive—in the box, on the bases, on the mound, and defensively—aiming to pressure opponents into mistakes. Early scrimmages have already shown resilience and the ability to respond to adversity. With continued development and the right mindset, Loreauville has the potential to turn raw talent into a very special 2026 season.
