As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Throw Tool Class of 2028

Krue Patrick 3B / RHP / Staley, MO / 2028

Krue Patrick makes our list again thanks to his standout arm talent. One of the top two-way prospects in the Midwest, Patrick’s value comes from his overall explosiveness. He has posted 100 mph exit velocities, a 6.61 60-yard dash, and perhaps most impressively, a 93 mph infield velocity. That combination of tools gives him the ability to project at multiple positions at the next level.

During his freshman spring, Patrick earned the starting first base role on a loaded Staley team that finished one win shy of a state championship. When we saw him in the summer, he spent significant time at third base and shortstop, and he also made a few appearances behind the plate in the fall. His arm strength and athletic versatility make him a true plug-and-play defender, and we expect that to play extremely well as he enters his sophomore campaign. We’re excited to see where he ultimately lands in the coming years.
