Overall Summary

Canby nearly took home a 5A state title in 2025, and will need to rely on many new faces if they want to make another deep playoff run this year. The Cougars are led at the top by talented two-way junior Jack Brauckmiller. The tall righty was seen at Future Games last summer, representing Team PNW with a fastball up over 86 MPH, a 6.93 second run time, and exit velocities up to 97 MPH. Last spring, Brauckmiller logged 67.2 IP while allowing just 7 earned runs, resulting in an incredible 0.72 ERA. He also hit over .370 with 24 runs scored offensively. Elsewhere, senior Blake Miller returns to provide experience at the catcher position. Miller hit .341 with 20 RBI last season and will be asked to do even more offensively this spring. After that, Canby will need to rely on several players with limited or no varsity experience. Infielder Brody Joyce is a promising young sophomore that posted a 7 second run time and low-90's exit velocities at the plate, while junior Cooper Ackerman may see a role after leading the JV team in hitting a season ago. The pitching will also be a huge question mark after Brackmiller, but players such as Payton Burke and Phineas Pickthorn could help in this regard. Canby has tough matchups with Central Catholic, Tualatin and Wilsonville to highlight their 2026 schedule. Though their will be many unknowns, look for the Cougars to compete once again this spring.
