2026 High School Team Preview: Georgia Military Academy

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

GMC returns a strong senior core with underclassmen that gained valuable experience a year ago as they look to surpass their first round exit in ‘26. Pacing the offense is senior SS/RHP Seth Ussery who has been a consistent performer over the years and supplies the lineup with a potent hit/speed combo. Ussery offers value on the mound as well. Immense two-way impact comes from 2026 2B/RHP Noah Goddard as he holds down a spot in the rotation and returns invaluable experience. As well as also being a key piece in the order after hitting over .400 last season and provides defensive versatility. The senior talent rolls on with 1B Lantz Holton who yields consistency out of the corner infield spot after hitting over .350 a year ago. A pair of committed seniors 3B/RHP Chase McCrary (USC Beaufort) and C/IF Eli Griffith (Gordon State) bring quality hit tools that immediately strengthen the depth of the lineup and carry roles on the mound as well. Senior LHP/OF Ayden Hamm, a pitchability lefty, returns the most innings on the team and anchors the staff as SP1, and equips the outfield defense with a strong glove to match. 2026 P Jonas Crager will be a dependable arm out of the pen and bolsters the depth of the staff. 2026 OF Riley Woods and 2027 C Hunter Langford held near everyday roles a season ago and look for a jump in production that could push this team over the hump. Sophomores 2028 P/IF Riley Marcott and 2028 P/OF Matthew Webster both got their feet wet in ‘25 as they boast two-way value and could be tasked to take on larger roles. Another potential underclassmen that could get in the mix is 2029 RHP Lofton Binion. The pieces are in place for the Bulldogs to make a run at the region title and into the playoffs behind an experienced senior group.
