Avery Fouts
Associate Scout

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Woodland Wolfpack saw significant contributions from underclassmen last season, which bodes well for the program growth in ‘26 and so forth. 2027 OF Douglas Sample brings high-floor tools with good projection throughout and paces the lineup in the middle-of-the-order. Two-way impact comes from junior RHP/UTL Blake Washington who led the team in innings pitched, strikeouts, and lowest ERA amongst high-usage arms a year ago, and returns as the ace of the staff as he yields proven durability as well as competitiveness. Washington also batted for a .347 avg. and swiped 17 bags as well as he carries an important role in the lineup. Senior UTL Xavier Washington is a consistent bat in the lineup with the ability to reach base at a high-clip (.432 OBP) and possesses a quality glove to match. 2026 P/OF Drayden Oldham supplies the rotation with stability as he showed the ability to limit damage a season ago and will be looked upon for an uptick in innings. Athletic defender and equips the outfield defense with a veteran presence as well, and is a steady run producer in the heart of the offense. Junior RHP Gavin Williams holds veteran experience with a chance to earn a spot in the rotation. Sophomore RHP Elijah Yarbrough obtained early innings a year ago with plenty of upside remaining and is poised to strengthen the depth of the rotation. 2028 UTL/RHP CJ Avery gained invaluable experience a season ago and brings forth two-way value. Junior 1B Tyler Paxton got his feet wet last year as he could be tasked to take on a bigger role. 2028 3B Dillon Malone, a versatile piece on defense, saw meaningful reps a year ago and looks geared up to take on a larger role. Freshman C Jacob Crawl, a physical backstop, is expected to contribute right away as he bears a strong defensive presence and projects as a key piece in the lineup. 2029 SS Connor Anderson boasts a high-level defensive makeup with plenty of athleticism and will provide stability at a premium position as he looks to step into an everyday role. “This Wolfpack group continues to grow and gain experience at the varsity level as they expect to compete daily and show steady improvement throughout the season.”
