2026 KSHSAA Team Preview: Bonner Springs Braves

Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

The Kansas high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 19, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “We are excited to bring back what being a Brave looks like. We are going to be a team that is going to get overlooked with potentially having a lot of younger guys on our roster. But we will play together and for one another to bring out the best in us. Looking forward to coming back to the Kansas side after my last stint at Platte County. Looking to add parts from Platte on why we were the 2025 Missouri State Champions and bring that mindset over here to Bonner Springs! We will be young and graduated a handful of leaders from the last years class. We will have a lot of new faces, some that haven't played baseball for a few years. We will have some bumps in the road, but overall ready to compete and get better everyday.” – Jesse Smallwood, head coach
