2026 OUTLOOK

+ Meridian enters the 2026 season focused on resetting the standard after a 9–16 campaign in Class 7A, bringing back a wide base of returning contributors with varsity experience across the diamond. Under head coach Tommie Brown, the Wildcats return athletic position players and a collection of arms that give the program a chance to build momentum as they navigate Region 3 play.

Offensively, Meridian features a lineup built on depth and versatility, with several returning pieces capable of impacting the game in different ways. Bryson Jackson serves as a central figure, providing leadership while contributing on both sides of the ball. Ali Jimerson and Dylan Robinson offer athleticism and lineup stability, while Damrcus Portis brings physicality and run-producing potential in the middle of the order. Jaquavious McCoy, Aydien Roberts, Marquis Ellis, and Kentrell Cameron round out a group that supplies speed, defensive flexibility, and continued competition for everyday roles.

On the mound, the Wildcats return a sizable pitching core that should allow them to mix matchups and manage innings throughout the spring. Jackson (2027) headlines the staff with the ability to take on meaningful starts, while Jordan Barfield (2026) and Jimerson (2026) provide additional options in both starting and relief roles. Portis adds another power look, and Jadarius Williams (2027) gives Meridian a developing arm with upside as he continues to gain varsity experience.

With a broad returning roster, multiple arms available, and competition at nearly every position, Meridian heads into 2026 looking to establish consistency and define roles early. If the Wildcats can turn their athleticism into sustained offensive production and solidify their pitching rotation, they have the foundation to take a step forward in Class 7A this spring.
