As we near the start of the preseason, Prep Baseball Oregon continues our series of State Games Spotlights. This series aims to highlight standout performers at our top invite-only 2025 PNW State Games event. Prep Baseball spotlights aim to showcase players that Prep Baseball Scouts felt showed standout tools, large improvements in overall game, or potential upside moving forward. College coaches and recruiters should be sure to keep an eye on these prospects in the coming months.
Today, we spotlight '27 LHP Cody Mitchell. The junior from Crescent Valley High School showed out on the mound at the summer's top event and will be seen at PNW Preseason All-State this February.
A 6'6 lefty, Mitchell commands to both sides of the zone with a high-slot release. Below is a complete player profile breakdown.

Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-6, 225-pounds.
Delivery: Goes from full wind from 3B side of the rubber. Wider base with slight bend in knees at set with hands set just above the belt. Up-tempo wind as head remains locked on target. Some hip turn away from target at leg lift. Long frame generates extension with slightly closed front foot land. Works out front with controlled finish.
Arm Action: LH. Hands break at the letters into downward swing. Longer action into high 3/4 slot release. Some recoil on follow through.
