Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

The Colorado high school baseball season kicks off on March 5th, opening day for regular season action under CHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official Prep Baseball Colorado Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

What Coach Is Saying:

"I think our strength will be a solid pitching staff and a solid offensive attack. We will be more of an offensive team than many will think. We will be a fast team as well and be able to put pressure on defenses with our speed."

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK:

Delta enters the 2026 spring season as one of the more consistent 3A programs on the Western Slope, carrying both recent success and a roster that features legitimate pieces for a potential postseason run. This is a group that has learned how to win, and the foundation remains firmly in place.

The tone once again starts with Landon Kennell, who has been a driving force for Delta and is expected to headline the pitching staff. In 2025, Kennell logged 45.2 innings a season ago, striking out 83 hitters while allowing just 24 hits, and his impact extends well beyond the mound. Offensively, he was just as dominant, batting .556 with five home runs, making him one of the more dynamic two-way players in the classification.

Kennell is joined by Shean and Ryan, who each hit over .385 last spring and should serve as steady anchors in the heart of the lineup. That trio gives Delta a proven offensive core capable of producing runs in multiple ways. While the pitching staff projects as a strength at the top of the rotation, this lineup may be more dangerous than many expect, particularly with the team’s ability to play fast and apply consistent pressure on opposing defenses.

With a balanced attack that blends a top arm, offensive firepower, and speed, Delta has the makeup of a team that can make noise when it matters most. Key matchups this spring against Resurrection Christian, Manitou Springs, University, Falcon, and Coal Ridge will go a long way in shaping how high this group’s ceiling can be come playoff time.
