As we look back on the 2025 summer tournament circuit here in Kansas City, we’ll be breaking down the top players by tool from each class — based on evaluations from our scouting team at Homefield and Creekside. Follow along as we take a deep dive into these players and highlight the summers they put together. Each week will feature our top five players based on each tool from the class, presented in no particular order.

Top Throw Tool Class of 2028

Brooks Bond SS / Lewis Central Senior High School, IA / 2028

When it comes to infield velocity, Brooks Bond was one of the best we saw this year. A top hitter and defender, Bond makes a major impact game to game for his Iowa Sticks team. One of his more underrated tools is his arm strength, largely because his hit tool and defensive playmaking ability stand out so much. The arm really plays, as he can make throws from shortstop from multiple arm slots while still getting the ball across the diamond with ease.

Bond’s arm strength was on full display at the Central Super Sophomore Games, where he topped out at 91 mph on the infield velocity. The excitement around that number isn’t about throwing as hard as possible on every play, but what it represents: the ability to make strong, accurate throws using only a fraction of his arm strength. That efficiency drives consistency and helps limit mistakes across the infield.
