2026 High School Team Preview: Frederica Academy Knights

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Despite losing key pieces from last year’s state championship season, Coach Kolbe and the Knights return a talented roster that earned valuable experience last year and understand what it takes to win. The senior leadership on this year’s squad starts with a duo who will be impact bats in the lineup in C Logan Wensel and 1B Cole White, who both also can be useful on the mound as well. Another two-way presence for the Knights is junior RHP/OF Wood Watson, who will be vital as a rotation piece after getting battle-tested last year and provides more stability to the lineup. Underclassmen will have an impact on the team this spring including freshman INF Hudson Carter and maybe one of the most important players on the roster in sophomore RHP/SS Braxton Sykes. With SP1 upside for this squad and likely an everyday role at SS, Sykes is the one of the future cornerstones and will be looked upon to be that guy in 2026. There will be some trial by fire in spots this spring but the team chemistry among this group is evident and will be ready to fight for a chance to go back-to-back.
