2026 High School Team Preview: Lassiter

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Losing 75% of your starting innings on the mound including an SEC commit is tough, but Coach Rustay and the Trojans return an experienced lineup with a pitching staff with something to prove as they push for a 20+ win season. 2B Sean Wilson and SS Connor Lee are an important senior duo for this club as they bring above-average defense with quality bat-to-ball profiles at the top of the lineup. Senior 1B/LHP Caden Lenzi looks like a difference maker for this club early on this spring and will be needed for a massive role both on the mound and as one of the top power bats in the lineup. The uncommitted junior pair in C/OF Chase Campbell and 3B/C Kyle Montgomery are high-level bats that can carry the lineup while high-floor gloves at multiple positions. Another junior in 1B/RHP Jon Walker Brown looks ready for a much bigger role in 2026 after a breakout summer/fall campaign and can provide big-time juice with pitchability on the mound to match. The most important underclassman on the roster could be sophomore RHP/1B Keegan Loadwick who earned key experience as a freshman and now holds SP1 upside for this roster heading into 2026. There will be some trial by fire on the mound in what will be a competitive region but this squad will be ready and expect high-energy all spring.
