2026 OUTLOOK
+ Grenada enters the 2026 season coming off a 17–12 campaign that included a third-round playoff appearance in Class 6A, returning a sizable senior-heavy core that logged meaningful varsity innings and at-bats a year ago. Under head coach C.J. Hodges, the Chargers bring back experience across the infield and outfield, giving the program a veteran foundation as it looks to navigate Region 1, District 3 competition.
Offensively, Grenada leans on a group of returning infielders who provide stability and familiarity in the lineup. Ty Edwards (2026) headlines that group, offering a steady presence on the dirt and consistent at-bats in key spots of the order. He’s joined by Brayden Trusty (2026), Eli Palmer (2026), and Drew Klinck (2026), forming an experienced infield unit that should help the Chargers control tempo defensively while grinding out quality plate appearances. In the outfield, Hayden Lee (2026) returns as a reliable option with athleticism and range, while Daniel Hopper (2027) adds another dynamic piece who continues to develop into a larger offensive role.
On the mound, Grenada will look to a trio of returning arms to carry the bulk of the workload. Hunter Watson (2026) brings varsity experience and competitiveness, while Carson Renfro (2027) and left-hander Eli Housel (2027, Memphis commit, and Future Gamer from this past summer) provide contrasting looks from the right and left side. That mix gives the Chargers flexibility in matchups and the ability to navigate lineups multiple times through the order.
Depth within the 2027 class will also be an important storyline this spring. Harper Newcomb (2027) profiles as a true two-way option with infield versatility and pitching upside, while Tanner Fowler (2027), Heston Hatcher (2027), and Keeton Patton (2027) give Grenada additional arms and positional depth as roles continue to take shape.
The next wave of Chargers talent is already pushing forward, led by underclass outfielders Braylon Haridman (2028) and Caleb Smith (2028), both of whom bring athleticism and long-term upside to the program.
With a veteran infield, developing arms, and a strong 2027 class providing depth on both sides of the ball, Grenada enters 2026 positioned to be competitive once again in Class 6A. If the Chargers can establish consistency on the mound and continue to get production from their experienced core, they have the makeup of a club capable of making another postseason push this spring.
